LED technology is superb, safe and reliable. Just about where I want to be now. I picked up another USB battery charger ( just as back up) which can charge batteries via any USB point ( tv ,solar panel or battery pack). I picked up another power bank from B and M .Goodmans brand for twelve quid. I have Anker too,but these cheapies will power up a couple of phones or tablets easily:

These will also power a USB lightbulb too. I have ordered a couple more from China. A fiver for the pair!

Heating won’t be a problem,as we are solid fuel, and boy ,we have plenty! I know it sounds daft ,given the current heatwave, but there will be a fire lit by the end of September. That’s not a long way off.

I shall also make sure that next Spring’s compost / fish blood and bone ,and the few annual vegetable seeds are laid in.
I tried my Goodmans power pack out at the weekend and was really disappointed. Didn't even manage a full phone charge before it went flat. I'm going to stick to the more expensive ones now, because this was a false economy for me.
That’s interesting. Was the pack properly charged? I am going to charge my iPad right now with one ,as it is at 10%.

Mine is charging my pad perfectly. Looks like it’ll do my phone too. I’d take it back if I were you.

Was thinking recently I need to make sure I don't get batteries leaking into my gear. Apparently alkaline ones are the main culprits, if left too long in a device. I got a new headtorch about a year ago, Black Diamond, thought I'd check that. 4 Duracel alkaline inside. Thought I'd swap them for 4 NiMH I'd recently charged. Couldn't get the last battery out! There was a little rocker but it wasn't working. Turns out a lot of people struggle. I made a quadruple loop of cotton, tied it in a knot and put it round the battery. Works like those loops in smoke alarms. The knot stops it pulling through. Bit poor for a company like Black Diamond. Torch is good anyway.

Goodmans 10,000mah. In fact,I’ll get two phones out of it on top.Mind you, mine never ,ever go below 40%. You never know when you’ll need them in an emergency. I’d take yours back.

First powerbank I had, I used my phone a lot while charging (was at night, at a festival), and that really drained it fast, might have damaged it actually. It didn't seem to hold as much charge after that.

After work today,I called at our B and M department store  I needed sugar for my Vod## sorry ,homebrew. Got three tins of corned dog,and bacon. We are running down from three,to ( now) two freezers. It may become one ,if there are regular blackouts. I am fully expecting this. Tinned foods will be a definite alternative. As Sixties kids, this is good grub! :D Tinned veg is being stored too - not that it isn’t! I also picked up a stainless steel flask- 1.5 litre ‘Tower’ brand. I have two excellent Stanley Aladdin jobs that are 25+ years old, but this one is wide mouthed. Apart from water, this boy could hold a soup or stew. I have just filled it with hot water ,and I’ll be up at 5.30am,as Tuesday,I have a lie- in. I’ll see if it’s hot. ;) £12.99.

Tomorrow,I am fishing. Lures this week, and fishing for predators. Once again, checking what may be eaten IF we had to. Catapult will be in my pocket, mainly to see off cormarants and mink. However,if there’s a pigeon or rabbit …
Now we have had some proper rain,I may well find some horse mushrooms or puffballs too. That would be too lucky though!
