I was reading an article once, by someone who specialises in predicting the future, I mean by being well researched, not psychic! He was invited to answer questions from a bunch of ultra-rich people. He thought they'd want to know about the climate crisis, and what could be done to stop it. But they'd just accepted it was happening, and wanted to know how to stop their security turning on them when civilisation collapses.
I think it was in an article in a mainstream US paper, about the history of climate change awareness, and how the FF industry admitted it at first, and then went into denial when they realised governments weren't taking action.
Try reading the link in the OP 😉

I remember one bit in WWZ (the book, not the garbage movie of the same name), some former high powered exec type who'd been classified as Unskilled Menial Labour using her (higher ranked) trainer's first name..... Because the Trainer had been the exec's housemaid and she couldn't adjust to the change in circumstances.

If nothing else it does tend to prove in my eyes that having a stash of money is one of the best preps anyone can have. It can pay for evacuation , hotel bills , or just to fork out for a broken boiler or new tyre for the car. Money is versatile.
I suppose there comes the question of what classes as the super rich. Many of us may be feeling the pinch but to those in say Pakistan we are still well off with our stashes or bugout vehicles or boltholes. There isn't a sort of ceiling where above a certain limit one can't be classed as a prepper. With regards to them keeping the security on board I would assume that too can be paid for by ensuring the guards family is looked after. Wouldn't guarantee their loyality of course but it may help. And of course it isn't a problem confined solely to the rich. I'm sure there are threads on here about protecting ones home , family and preps from the neighbours . Human nature I suppose , to try and survive and ensure the safety of immediate family.

That is a superb book. I saw similarities with how governments acted during lockdown in it.
