Those are getting harder and harder to get hold of now they used to be a quid each

It's a bit like the threaded fitting plonk on top twist about 1/8th turn it clicks and jobs a good one

Sadly they've discontinued the cv270 cartridge which was squat and wide for the CV300 which are smaller but hold more gas with a narrower base

I've still got an old c206 pierce one, I just use it as a backup, but most of the cannisters now have an internal reseal mechanism.

Tested cooking pasta in a thermos flask. 22 minutes, was slighly overcooked for me, especially as I still need to add the sauce, cheese, and put in the air fryer for a few minutes. I think I'll give it 15 minutes tonight when I do it for real.

Also made a pot cosy for my camping pot using this https://www.backpackinglight.co.uk/cook ... 2-119.html. The pot comes out easy enough but you would have to hold the top rim and pull. This pot comes with a hanging loop as well as folding handle, and is titanium. I also have a titanium hanging chain for it. The pot holds gas canister and stove. It is a Boundless Voyage 1.1 litre. I used about half of a 1 x 0.5m sheet. The other half can be used for cook-in-the bag meals and/or windshield. I have a few empty heavy duty freezer bags so freeze dried meals can be split, and the pot kept clean when these are used. I left the excess at the top so it can be folded over the lid. I just used 4 seams where the material folds outwards, overlapping, and the gaffa tape folds round over two layers. I figured this would be strong and keep the heat in pretty well, plus give me something to hold when sliding it off. It does leave a corner where the wrap doesn't sit close to the pot however. Backpackinglight have a video where they show how to make a more professional one which is double thickness, but I think mine is ok for my purposes. I might cut a slot out for the handle.

My Amazon order today is full of little preps that help, and I used MSE's "finder" tool to get to over £20, so I can have free delivery. I bought:
- heavy duty rubber wedge door stopper (that was the thing that took it over £20 - I was reading about safe rooms upstairs, and the best I've got for now is the toilet upstairs, which is lockable, obvs and this will help secure it.
- tea infuser - I can't be bothered washing out a teapot every time after I make a single cup of tea, and using a tea strainer to infuse the loose tea leaves doesn't work. So there's this.
- sewing machine oil lubricant - if I want to use my sewing machine, this is needed.
- pack of 10 needle threaders
- pack of 100 curtain hooks. Both these purchases are about making insulating curtain linings.

And all the purchases, more or less, are about enabling what I've already got. Happy with that.

By the way my stainless flask gets very hot on the outside. Is that normal? It's a Blacks one, not used it for years. Does the job anyway. I got some oven gloves with silicone on the outside when I got the air fryer (great purchase, so much easier). So I used one of those on it.

Yeah, makes sense. Still, for what I'm using it for it does the job.

Popped into Wilko today, they are clearing out Garden stuff. They reduced the price of 1l bottles of BBQ Lighter FLUID (not gel) to £1 so I picked up a dozen bottles.

Its actually nice clean paraffin, burns very well in Primus stoves, wick/hurricane and pressure lanterns, well worth picking a few up if available in your local store.

Packets of seeds (use by 2024) 15p, flowers and veg of all kinds so picked up a few packets. Still time to sow things like lettuce and radish in greenhouse.

Flask is a bit hard to clean anyway, pasta sticks to the bottom, so I ordered a wide mouth, food flask style one, Thermos brand. Cost about £22.
