Welcome. What interests you in prepping?
In three words I can sum up everything I have learned about life: It goes on.
Robert Frost.
Covid 19: After that level of weirdness ,any situation is certainly possible.
Me.

Prepping thoughts. MMMMM???? never been asked that. I desire to be in control of my decisions and not be influenced from elsewhere too much. I am also interested in the cross over to survivalist, The two are interchangeable. It dawned on me some years ago that, whist I knew how to make money, I had no idea how to feed myself. I felt a deep sense of shame in being a part of the only species on planet earth that does not know how to feed itself and so the journey began and continues x

Interesting point on not knowing how to make or procure food. So true of townies and most of the population.
Though this site is not highly focussed on 'survivalist' angles, there are a few who live the good life and have food self sufficiency, and a few others learning a bit of basic gardening, husbandry and hunting/fishing. The townies among us would never survive living off the land and sadly we can't all have big gardens or allotments. But we try to learn from each-other.
There's some debate here about the non-viability of bugging out and living off the land. We, here tend to concentrate on buying the time to adapt into whatever situation develops. Things like having a well stocked larder to breeze through lockdowns and a stash of lamps and stoves to breeze through power outages. This way, we get an advantage on our peers and neighbours who would starve without deliveroo
As a population, we are like sheep and highly dependent. Just need to recognise our vulnerabilities and prep for them. Some scenarios we can't prep for, some are a no-brainer.
Have a good browse. Don't be shy to ask questions and share your own ideas. We are a friendly bunch.

"non-viability of bugging out and living off the land"
Bugging out might be going to a government evacuation site. You might only be bugging out for a couple of days, in which case you don't really need food, and should be able to carry what you want.
On the other hand if you are bugging IN, long term, you might need/want to go out and try to find fish, or forage for edible wild plants. Wild edible plants are definitely going to be available, everywhere. You can eat nettles, dandelions all sorts. Many wild plants including dandelions have roots that have loads of carbs in them. Common Chickweed is very abundant all year round, easy to ID, and has carbs, protein and vitamins. Here's a video from the army https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8WAnZuq0Bg0
