Its always filthy is this chimney ..I hate coming here ..look at this ..two loads . If you move dont pass this number on ( they fitted the blooming fire all those years ago )
So ..rang another company explained and said its going to be dirty ..he said yep its my job ..
We will see if he goes off on one

Pseudonym has got a couple of Jackery's, I'm sure he'll be along soon to offer some insight. I am still um-hing and ah-ing about one, because as you say, it's a lot of money to fork out, but I don't want to be in the stampede if/when the announcement comes that the lights will be going out.GeeGee wrote: ↑Thu Oct 06, 2022 6:24 am Having chimney swept next week ..same company and man been doing it 14 yr ..last time he went mad yelling shouting at me ..my heart sinks when I see your address ! We went for this power system but with one solar panel. My adult son (still at home) invested in it and we are paying him back monthly. For us it will be about charging batteries, using the slow cooker etc. For him it's about charging the phones and laptop We've been trying different things on it, working out what we will use through it and what we won't. We call it BABS (big ass battery system).

Good grief! That's horrendous. I'm glad you're not putting up with that.GeeGee wrote: ↑Thu Oct 06, 2022 6:24 am Having chimney swept next week ..same company and man been doing it 14 yr ..last time he went mad yelling shouting at me ..my heart sinks when I see your address ! Exactly my situation It's getting close to stampede time, I feel, and I really need to pay attention, but I need to buy something ready-made, with the best will in the world I can't buy this that and the other and magically make them do what I want them to do

Technology has moved on in 12 months, If I was to do it all again I'd look at Ecoflow.
https://uk.ecoflow.com/pages/portable-power-stations
Ability to add extra storage batteries, faster charge times; more solar panel input and the largest model can be charged by an EV point.
Two is one and one is none, but three is even better.

The whole town is getting it's gas pipes checked over and where necessary replaced next week. Two days max per household with gas turned off.
Making sure I have extra gas canisters for my camping stove and my Jackery's are at full capacity.
Having to empty the space under the stairs is a pain.
No mention of replacing my meter for a Smart meter but I'm sure they'll wrangle that in due to safety. (despite having no problems for the last 50 years)
