Tuna!

Four corporations do own 90% of the global grain trade.jansman wrote: ↑Mon Oct 10, 2022 5:44 pmThat’s the point tough ( though - misspelled ),isn’t it? When your local shops are gone, they - Amazon - will know. Then that miraculous company will really charge.Frnc wrote: ↑Mon Oct 10, 2022 4:46 pm When I went back to check something, it was showing a minimum order of £15. Or £40 if you want it next day.
Personally I doubt I'll use it as I live near the shops anyway, and it's a bit wasteful re all the cardboard, although obviously it goes in recycling.
Yes they are probably putting other people out of business, but what can you do? They make life a lot easier.
Money is an issue, but I feel that *I* should have at least 3 choices and chances,in the true survivalist way. I can remember reading waaaay back that it was thought that,by the new century,The World would be ruled by 4 World Corporations. About right innit?
It's a shame in a way, re Amazon. Eg recently I wanted Stanley knife blades. Both local DIY shops have shut permanently. One was a long time ago, maybe 10 years. I ordered some Faithfull blades off Amazon that should fit, 10 for £1.95, free postage. I can't argue with that. I suppose I could have gone to a builder's merchant that is walkable, didn't think.
Re: Tuna!
In fairness, our purchases are about cost, and you are right of course. I have to admit,I use eBay ( I am not an Amazon fan) .I use that way, mainly because it saves me time and petrol! ebay is also a congregation of smaller sellers, and that is ok for me.Frnc wrote: ↑Tue Oct 11, 2022 5:48 amFour corporations do own 90% of the global grain trade.jansman wrote: ↑Mon Oct 10, 2022 5:44 pmThat’s the point tough ( though - misspelled ),isn’t it? Anyhow, what about this tuna?

Part of Amazon is the same. Some sell through Amazon but dispatch themselves. Some have Amazon warehouse and dispatch it for them. You can even sell as an inddividual like on ebay, including second hand, although most people use ebay for that.
Re tuna, Sainsbury's are doing 3 x 110g John West at £1.50 off. I checked my cupboard and had less than I thought, so I got 3 x 3 yesterday. I prefer it in water to oil, and there is almost no water in John West, you don't need to drain it.
Re: Tuna!
It’s all taste isn’t it? My wife is the tuna eater, and she finds oil a little untasteful, but that individual of course.

Re: Tuna!
I just got used to it because I was on a diet. For prep, oil makes more sense (more calories). But I need to rotate and eat, so I stick with what I like. They have almost zero water and are in plastic, so they are light to carry and you can eat half a tin and put the lid on.
Re: Tuna!
Well I don't really like it if it tastes very fishy, so I drain the oil and drown it in mayonnaise and white pepper anyway
If I'm having a nicoise that's when I like it in the oil so I would only drain a little off.
I only eat tuna because it's good for you, and contains a lot of protein, but I've struggled to find one that I actually like, until I discovered this brand.

I get it,totally. After being poorly and not eating I can appreciate the nutrition situation.itsybitsy wrote: ↑Tue Oct 11, 2022 12:20 pmWell I don't really like it if it tastes very fishy, so I drain the oil and drown it in mayonnaise and white pepper anyway
