New here

Post by Sarahjane22 »

Hi
I've been lurking around for a while and thought now would be a great time to join, given the state of the world currently.
My name is Sarah and I'm a nurse. I'm not completely new to prepping but I'm looking to learn plenty.
I only keep a large supply of food, water supply, and medical supplies, so clearly, I need to do a lot more.
I'm already fit and healthy ( martial arts) but I would like to be stronger too. Heavy jobs can be beyond me and I live on my own. At the moment, I'm attempting to learn which foods in nature are edible. Anyway, I'm glad to be here

Hi Sarah, welcome to the forum. I've been trying to learn about wild edibles for a while. I did a thread listing the 200 most common plants in the UK, with brief notes about edibility. It's just a guide, so people can direct their research to the most common species. Elsewhere I've recommended some books. I've got some fungi books as well, but not found many yet. Edible plants are much more abundant.

Welcome. It sounds as if you have made a good start. We don't bite so take a look around and do ask questions.

Welcome to the forum! Absolutely, you've made a great start.

Do you know what are the biggest risks in your area? Flooding, train derailments, something that might be a target for terrorist attacks? And check out the resilience website of your county - plus fire brigade, police, even your insurance company. How would you get home if something happened when you were at work? Those are the kind of questions (to me, anyway :) ) that come up after food, water and medical, as you say. But you've made a fantastic start, you're already ahead of 98% of the population.
