Went into home bargains camping gas canisters four for 3.99 stuck two packs in basket they also had some outdoor table lamps which looked pretty nifty for indoors black stand white shade and USB grabbed two of them and they are good one in the living room one in kitchen and ill be going back for more they are bright and last well
Only disappointment was when I got to checkout with the canisters it flashes up ..over 25 ? Cashier looks up and straight away presses the yes button ..how dare he 😂

Then ..paid the mortgage off 😬😬
I couldn't do it ..couldn't put all those numbers in phone and press send my finger wouldn't press it
Kept checking
Re checking but the finger wouldn't work !
Went into bank after I found one a few miles away ( its like wheres wally looking for a bank now ) and said to woman who basically directs you to a screen ..I cant do it its so many numbers 😲 she did it for me laughing and said I dont blame you..I shouldn't touch your phone but you look a tad stressed
What a numpty I am
Anyhow apparently account gets closed within 15 days and deeds sent electronically whatever that means
My heart is still thumping
Left with sod all but ...start all over again now and let Mr GG put feet up and watch his footy .

GeeGee, congratulations ⭐ that's brilliant. It's one less potential trouble hanging over you, and a great deal of security.

But what a naughty cashier to press the over 25 button straight away

I nearly forgot ... insulation preps: cleaning my vinyl floor to put a stored kilim down, and new insulation down underneath the kilim and the rug. Total £30, for the 5mm thick 100% wooden fibre insulation, nice wide joining tape, cheap delivery (screwfix), I'm really pleased. Haven't ordered it yet because Wed and Thur are the two days this week when I'm going out for a walk. With other people: woo hoo.

Decided today to sit tight here and have ordered a shed, coming early in the new year. Will try and get a freezer in there.

Many, many congratulations! :D :D

Preps wise, I'm investigating dash cams after my work colleague M got rear ended today by an idiot who then said it was M's fault (it wasn't) and was VERY pleased that M doesn't have a dash cam. M is now looking to buy one, and so am I!

A head torch now lives in my handbag so I can get from my car to my house in the dark. There are street lights, but they are hidden by very tall trees and my driveway is DARK.

Congrats, it's a great feeling.

British Military thermal undershirt arrived today, impressed so purchased three more in varying colours.

I like the extra bumflap to stop riding up when bending only.

Well Done GeeGee. I can only imagine how that feels as we never managed to get a foot on the ladder in the first place.

My prep this week is to learn about salting meat and have a go at making some bacon. I am sure that Jansman will be able to give me some tips.
It has been an interesting read around of the subject and discovering that Salami and Chorizo can be made in warm temperatures since they are fermented while bacon and traditional salt pork need colder ones at least to start.
Also interesting is that the "no added nitrates" bacon people are adding nitrates in the form of celery. Celery might be a usable DIY alternative if the apocalypse hits.
I want to be able to (safely) convert defrosting meat into ambient/coolish store bacon/ham/chorizo etc. I don't mind if it is very salty and needs a good soak before using if it means I can avoid defrosting meat going to waste.

If you are doing it in that way, then heavy salting is a good idea. Below 8 degree C is the ideal storage with ventilation too. When I was an apprentice,we used to sling beef joints ( you could use pork ), into a heavy brine for two weeks in the fridge. Then cook it,and shred it it into a cold meat.
