Baking soda and super glue
Baking soda and super glue
Ok i just seen a video of a person using baking soda and super glue to repair loads of stuff and make stuff out of it i was amazed , has anyone tried it or done anything like this , the guy had a striped screw head dropped a couple of drops of super glur on it then a drop or 2 of super glue pushed the screw bit in it then lifted out left a new screw head i was amazed made a spanner out of it and you know when you have some tools and work benches they have the plastic head and a bolt and you tighed them some times they break well he used a spanner head on a steel of metal sprayed on wd then filled the head of the ring spanner with some baking powder then a bolt stood in it poured more baking powder round the botl few drops of super glue let is set and it lifted out the spanner leaving the bolt and a lovely knob on it i was amazed
Re: Baking soda and super glue
Superglue is good stuff. T'other half uses it instead of varnish as a wood finish. but careful if you spill a lot of it as it releases cyanide as it cures. Safe if you only spill a drop or two but when someone spilt a bulk bottle, they had to evacuate the workshop.
Re: Baking soda and super glue
Also, if you spill superglue, never mop it up with cotton or wool. It will give off nasty acrid fumes and get very hot.GillyBee wrote: ↑Mon Dec 12, 2022 5:09 pm Superglue is good stuff. Oh yer it is a nasty stuff , i use to use it for mitre corners when fitting kitchens but i never knew you could use it with baking soda the way this person did .
I will be looking for broken things now lol , i did break the plastic pin on my maglite charger and could never get another so i had to put it in a multi plug thing and then use that to go in the wal as the charger use to drop out a bit now i am thinking i might try and make a new pin like they did

Re: Baking soda and super glue
A unsavoury chap I know once told me if you dab superglue on a car windscreen it will melt the film and eventually break the windscreen.
Never tried it
Don't know if it works.

Thank you so much for the links i was amazed , i use to use mitre bond and think that stuff was good but sometimes my air rifle stocks have screwholesthat get well chewed up so i use filler and the n sand and so on but this looks like it could be a better idea for internal holes and to reinforce jointsVitamin c wrote: ↑Mon Dec 12, 2022 6:21 pm This one

Re: Baking soda and super glue
I had heard of this sometime ago but only recently seen the videos and haven't ever tried it. Like steptoe I've used the mitre bond which is pretty decent stuff. The graphite is a new one on me though.
