eek - that's not good - I hope he can get treatment in a timely manner.
Thanks itsy - he was seen at A&E within a couple of hours, apparently, put straight on to strong antibiotics. I haven't heard today yet.

Ok just fitted the 3 meter long led strip light , i think you know the type it is like a roll of lights on a flat ribbon , i fitted them down the stair string and went for the 3 mt plenty long enough and wow so bright , they use 4 aaa recharable batteries and you can set them full on or sensor and they are great we walk in the hallway bingo lights came on now i will say you must put them on the side of the string ont facing up lol you can but wow it hurts the eyes like someone shining loads of torchs in your eyes .

I will try and get photos , i am now looking at longer life batteries i have the amazon basic 850 mah rechargeable but looking for 1100mah to get a little longer life but as you pop off the battery bank just plug in to usb and bingo i can charge all thesel ights from the power stations to woo hoo got to cut the electric use down .

Well folks hope your all doing ok and ready for the big fat fella in the red suit hehehehe

Hope he gets better quickly. My eldest has had pneumonia from between 5 years and 16. As a 5 year girl she was hospitalised, and Ill . Now at thirty, she is aware, and careful. I told her about your nephew yesterday Arzosah. She sends her best wishes to him.

Thank you jansman, your daughter too, that's very kind. I've got a phone call due at 10am, I'll know more then.

Good he’s been treated quickly. Please tell him to look after No1. It’s important. ;)

I got my update ... he was *worse* yesterday :( though the reputable websites like the NHS and NIMH in the US are saying that people are no longer infectious 48 hours after starting antibiotics. But they're also saying the incubation period is 3 - 7 days, which means his wife, his mum (my sister, she's been there 2 full days) and his daughter could all be brewing it but not yet symptomatic.

I live alone, like several others on here, so when I'm ill, I look after myself. And Christmas per se doesn't mean anything to me, so I don't have a huge urge to spend 6 hours or so with one person in recovery and 3 exposed and potentially infected. Sister has already offered a trip over there in January, it's family that actually matters to me. I'm really tempted to have Christmas in splendid isolation.

Stressful. My sister is being genuinely nice about it, but I do feel I'm letting the side down. Talk about team spirit :(

Oh dear.
Bad enough that your nephew is poorly at Christmas, but it will be tough on you to be the wicked Aunt that stayed away 'just because'. I hope he gets well soon and that nobody else falls victim.
Take care of you.

In a brief run of the oven, Last night I had a stab at parsnip and carrot crisps. Not wholly successful.

Scrub that. It was an epic failure as I sit munching them now!

Three medium parsnips from my harvest and three small carrots from my Lidl Heist
Sliced with potato peeler. That was harder than it should have been. Spiralizer next time?

Tossed in just enough olive oil.
Oven 170C for 20 minutes on a pizza tray, turning twice.

The beggars just didn't crisp up, especially the carrots

Severe mismatch in that some of the parsnips went dark brown and like wood bark, while the carrots remained soft like cold clammy flesh. And even the dark brown bits were not snappy crisps :(

Anyways. I salted them and I'm currently forcing some down. Could cost a filling

I’ve just been told I have mild arthritis in my right knee so I’m seeing the nurse at 2.00 to get bloods done and a general MOT.

So prepping with consist of buying CBD gummies tomorrow and I will see what supplements I need to help with the pain. I normally take cocodamol and ibuprofen and put on a knee brace which helps but the brace is in the wash today so I’m hobbling about Edinburgh and dodging the Christmas markets!

If anyone has advice on how to help with pain management, I would be very happy…

Not tried CBD but did try glucosamine which did nothing for me. Might do for you though? Got mine from Nature’s Best (I’ve no connection with them). GP says to tolerate the pain as long as possible before thinking of replacements!
