Bread
Aldi Essentials bread (white and wholemeal) is still 39p though, got this for the first time (wholemeal).
LOL at your poopy egg.
I tried Aldi's cheapest White Sliced bread and decided it was just not up to scratch. A substitute too far. We tend to freeze it, so that wouldn't have helped. A bit doughey and falls apart when buttered. I decided the 72p mid range stuff in the dark blue bag was an acceptable substitute for the (£1.30) Roberts or Warburtons that we used to buy. Better than ASDA's 72p offering.
Can't comment on the healthier breads. ;)

5kg bags of sugar in Tesco????!!!!! Never seen that. Thanks. I'll look in. Guess it was a big Tesco Extra?
I still have a Bookers card somewhere. Must revisit. (Bookers=Makro=Tesco now)

We have a 50/50/bread from Aldi ‘best of both’ it’s called 75pneach I believe. Suits my wife’s IBS. Suits me. :D

I agree with your observation. Acceptable quality at reasonable cost.
My thinking is that you get a lot of bang for your buck with any loaf of bread, so it will be absolute staple. Might as well be of acceptable quality. From £1.30 for Warburtons to 72p for ALDI's was fine, but when we scrimped to 39p, and we didn't enjoy a simple sandwich, then it was just too desperate.

Gustibus Basil Pasta sauce 59p.
Now, it's only a 400ml jar, so not a steal, but I just gave it a try with meatballs.
As always I augmented it with fried diced carrot and onion.
One local Lidl had only Gustibus Arabatia (chilli flavoured) left on the shelf. It seems they arrived as a mixed carton.
So I scuttled up to the next Lidl that still had the Basil and Tomato variant and I filled my basket 59p.

Beware the jars are almost identical and are intermixed.

I can see them running down this item till it disappears or goes up in price.

Bag of sugar lasts me years! Most of it goes in brews for tradesmen. I use Stevia drops on my cereal, nothing in brews or for anything else. Low sugar is yet another part of kidneystone diet, plus my weight loss diet.

Liking it is most important. We like this one. Whilst they have it. ;)

Remember that Alcohol we cut down on.....
That's where my sugar will be going. 1kg with some Ribena or tinned peaches or mixed dried fruit (past BBE of course) will be next month's wine ration.
The best tinned fruit for wine making is from the dented tins with the yellow sticker ;)
Next 40 pint beer kit is to use white sugar instead of brewing spray malt and is to be stretched to 50 pints. I'm sure I can still make a refreshing brew at reduced cost.
Note. Too much white sugar in a home made wine or beer can induce headaches beyond reason.

Not Value, but Flora Ligher Vegan and Buttery 450g are both 75p off at Sainsbury's currently. The Lighter had 2 sell by dates, longest was 19th March. I used my credit card magnifier to read the dates. It's a thin piece of plastic I keep in my wallet. You could also start a fire with it.

We are not meant to have to much butter as i have issues with dairy yup a failing body lol .

We can highly recommend the flora buttery from morrisons i am sure others sell it but it is £5.50 for the 2kg tub that is a bargain to me , plus if has not upset my stomach
