Steptoe - the comment wasn't directed at you. :)

A few months ago we had to remove some individuals for their abhorrent views about others personal situations. I was merely reminding Grenfell about that.

I've said this before so sorry for repeating myself. For most of my life I have been an employed carpenter and my wife was a secretary until our daughter was three and went part time after that. Neither of us had huge wages , mine was average wage in a good year and women are paid less .We've supplemented our income with ebay sales , scrap metal and so on and consider ourselves comfortable rather than rich. But despite that we managed to buy ourhouse outright , part funded her sister's house and still have been able to run motors nd have holidays and don't feel we are hard done by so I frankly struggle to understand why those on £30K a year are finding it hard. Just poor money management in my eyes...
Grenfell - I'm going to ask you to refrain from comments regarding people's personal circumstances and monetary situation - thanks. We set out how this forum would operate some months ago after we had to eject some utterly appalling individuals. Everyone's circumstances are different.
I actually agree with him !

Everybody's life experience is different and life can bite you in the ass at any time. This is why we're in a preppers forum and focus on how to deal with stuff.

Well this morning at about 6:45 got a shout from the wife I was happily slobbing in bed keeping warm whilst discussing trains / cars / farts with little man who crawled between me and mum before she got up for work...

She had gone down stairs to get ready for work (I got a yellow stickered tiger loaf from the shop last night thinking nice toast this morning) she managed to slip with the bread knife and even though it's not razor sharp it left an impressive cut only stopped when it hit her finger nail ....

Cleaned with saline wipe

Dried with gauze and pressure held for 5 minutes

2x sterri strips to nip it shut

1 large plaster cut as a finger tip dressing

And a tube grip finger dressing to finish the job

Took less than ten minutes to sort , and repack the overflowing first aid kit into its holdall and bundle her out to earn me some beer tokens

Saved a 4hour wait at a&e for what to all intents is a minor cut closing and dressing

This is what most prepping is, dealing with the little feck ups or bumps in the road but that then also helps in a big shtf as you've got stuff to deal with issues that crop up
If your roughing it, Your doing it wrong ;)

Lack of planning on your part doesn't make it an emergency on mine
