New prepper like brand new

Hello I’m mimi . I live in Liverpool I started to watch Ben Davidson and kind of got lost in pole shifts and solar flares . I haven’t started prepping yet but intend to ive drawn up a list that I’m start to buy items from. I have a funny feeling somethings just coming not sure how successful Il be in prepping and surviving whatever comes . What I have read so far Indicates I’m not in a good location . I’d love to hear from anyone and is there anyone from Liverpool. Where are people near me bugging out to if things go pear shaped .

Hi Mimi, I'm just down the road in Manchester. If I had to bugout it would depend on the circumtances. The government might tell us where to evacuate to. If my house was about to get looted by an armed gang, I'd just lie low locally, in the woods for a day or two, til they'd moved on. If it was uninhabitable where I live, I'd be heading out into the countryside to the south west of Manchester. Where you are, the coast might be a good option.

Pole reversals are not overnight events by the way, I think they take hundreds of years, or thousands.

Hello thanks for your reply I’m probably thinking about a number of scenarios I guess . So something similar to pandemic I’d like to stay put , solar flares and power cuts I’d like to bug out in a camper van I guess to Peak District maybe haha , I’d love to live further north In country side / mountains but currently it’s not financially veasbale

And yeah I have read all diff research and stuff about pole shifts not sure what to Beleive , the evidence though about the geomagnetic field weakening is quite strong and clear , I don’t think anything in terms of solar flare and severity is changing it’s more about our vulnerability to them if that makes sense so nation wide power cuts and supply chain collapse . I could be majorly catastropising though but what I’ve read makes sense so far and seems like a very real possibility

Welcome to the forum.
If you are new to prepping, take time to read some of the other welcomes to new members, before you lurch into misguided spending.
Generally bugging in is favoured over bugging out, but if you have a camper van that falls into the middle ground of bugging elsewhere.
Give serious thought to a variety of scenarios and decide what you can do that covers more than one of them. E.g. a well stocked pantry is useful in a pandemic, flood, civil unrest, gas blast down the road, power cut etc, but a tent and a hunting knife are good for...
Consider duration of any perceived threat. You can't stockpile water to last a lifetime, but you can figure out where to get water. You can figure out a few essential life skills such as campfire cooking.

Anyhow, mooch around, ask questions and interact.

What you prep for Is your call. But don't forget the "mundane" things.. these basic preps work / assist in all situation

Be it a "enforced" hospital visit following an accident a "hospital bag" or "hotel bag". Might be far more useful than a bug out bag of random tents / sleeping bag / camping kit local news tonight homes evcuation to a local theatre as some one has being playing at making fireworks or similar ..... A bear Grylls survival kit isn't going to be any use and well in this current climate might get you in bother...

Think list of phone numbers,. Pair of PJ's change of underwear, towel & small wash kit, coin stash for vending machine, list of local taxi firms to get home when the hospital discharge you at silly AM ....

For the home a decent first aid kit / basic fire safety kit will never go amis be it a minor boo boo to a shtf Ambulance / hospitals saturated to the point you can't get one / to one and major trauma clean sterile dressings and associated kit can be a life saver

Same with fire kit everyday fires be it a pan fire or someone Carrying out minor arson to your wheelie bin .. to the increased fire risk from candles / camping stoves shtf a couple of fire extinguishers a fire blanket and fire detection won't ever be a waste likewise carbon monoxide alarms

This is very interesting I read a post about two types of people who prep really risk preparing people like to have all eventualities covered and then lunatics haha that’s me it’s good to hear this side as I’ve never really thought about it this way and yes these all seem like more realistic scenarios so thanks

I do still and am convinced though that our downfall is going to me major power cuts probs some sort of flare and extreme weather event which if everyone prepped and remained calm would be and we would cope , in reality though people won’t will they , if i think of me say 5 years ago I’d be running to the shops , panicking and basically a mess where as now I wouldn’t I’d hunker down with my supplies and wait for things to be fixed

Problem with bugging out in the UK is there's so little space , imagine the peak District on a scorching bank holiday weekend then multiply the Chaos by 10 when people are in full blown panic and the ice-cream shop has sold out and the queue for the public toilets reaches back to the visitors centre

9x out of 10 your better off staying home or at least very local a house is usually fairly wind / waterproof even if damaged it offers Decent protection I really wouldn't like to be in a tent on a hill side tonight and that's knowing I could jump in my dry warm car and be in bed with the heating on in a couple of hours from the peak District ..

Yes this is true haha I think be sued I have flooding and high altitude drummed in my head from Ben Davidson I need to do more research I guess , and yes imagine everyone will have the same idea won’t they
