if discovered, while occupied, the air intake duct will be an easy attack vector to smoke you out.

I thought that. I’d take my chance rather than being self- buried.

septic tanks tend to be not very big, ideal if its for one person for a short amount of time but there are tanks out there that would be suitable , usually water of fuel storage tanks
Yes I suppose it depends on how you envisage using this bunker. Is it a modern day priest hole type of thing or a long term wait till all the zombies have ate each other type of thing...

How about a scrap petrol tànker type thing. Cylindrical, large and with access holes on top?
I've got White Heat in my mind now , the James Cagney film where the gang use a converted petrol tanker trojan horse style to raid the refinery , " top od da world ma ! "....

l cant believe you really think the air pipe will just stick up out of the ground with a sign on it saying air pipe for secret bunker
it will be hidden obviously or it wouldn't be a secret bunker
my first thoughts were to pipe back to the workshop underground and come up under the floor slab and emerge inside the workshop heater which looks more or less like this

Image

except mine has filters all round the bottom which filter the air for the burner, now i wasent thinking of using the heater part of it just having the pipes inside the filters so they cant be seen that way i can use them to filter the air plus use the motor to drive the air into the bunker giving positve pressure, although its more likely i will just mount 12v electric fans within the heater so it all still works if the power goes out
