New e bikes and scooters have caused many fires and some deaths.
For some they were the cheap to run answer to a car .
With new emission zones coming thick and fast across the UK
What's the answers.
Fire danger...
Re: Fire danger...
Not only is there potential for fire ,which is nasty, but these vehicles are often ridden by idiots too. We have a couple of yoofs in the village who are deadly on the roads and pavements! Trouble is,it won’t them who get killed.

eBikes are amazing and I'd have one in preference to a regular bike. They WILL catch on out of economic necessity. A few hundred fires each year will be tolerated. There are probably far,FAR more people injured in eBike accidents. Everything is relative.Vitamin c wrote: ↑Sat Jul 01, 2023 11:20 am https://www.theguardian.com/news/2023/m ... es-uk-data

Before long they will swap to lithium iron phosphate as the price drops much safer tech over lithium ion cells slightly less energy dense but lighter
Best thing you can do is charge them on a patio away from the house on a extension lead
Once burning you'll have next to no chance to extinguish the battery packs
Isolate from the mains and quench with a hose to reduce the fireball / reduce rye temperature in the remaining cells and await the fire service

So not charging them in the garage where we store Paint, Petrol and Diesel then?
You'll be posting ebay links for me to buy extinguishers next
Something we have zero of.

My wife is a Fire Marshall at the school she works. Went mad today when an extinguisher was messed with then returned to its stand !!!
Our house has four, plus blanket and the workshop x2. So important.
