Impulse Buy. Bucket BBQ

Post by jennyjj01 »

Today's middle of Lidl buy: I think it's called a bucket BBQ. £13.
Clearly meant to run on charcoal, if you'll forgive the silly question... How well would it work with just a few sticks of wood and maybe a bit of card to get it lit? Do I build the fire on top of the lower grid? And presumably I'd need to cook in a pan?
Sorry. My mastery of cooking over fire is minimal

We have cooked over this sort of BBQ. Fuel goes on top of the bottom grill. Food or a pan on top of the top one. It will burn wood - but may not do so very well. We used to run ours on charcoal with the odd small log to give a bit of light when camping. Like all BBQ it takes a while to be hot enough to cook on. A way of getting some air into the base is essential so make sure the air inlet does not get blocked.

Just not in the kitchen I hope ;)

For Cooking in a pan a wood gas stove is likely a more efficient option
