Discussion on the previous page of this thread about GF food - I'm another one that needs it, I have bread about twice a year now and I used to love it so much. I used to get Asda GF fusilli pasta, but they changed the recipe and I literally started to throw up so I had to change to Waitrose, which, weirdly, is the nearest supermarket to me. I've just checked on Asda now, and the equivalent amount is only £1 - but its no good buying that if I'm throwing up

The other thing I do is cook cornbread, half polenta half flour. It's not great, but at least I control the ingredients. Rice too, but I can't cook multiple batches, I don't trust myself with the cooling down quickly enough thing.

Potatoes! Grew up on them, and like them - I guess I'm going back, at least I *can* batch cook them and buy lots at once if I find a good local source.

At the risk of sounding like an ancient sexist the shopping in our house is generally left to my wife . I’ll plonk the money on the mantelpiece or in the account and she does what she does with it. As a result the supermarket isn’t one of my regular haunts . Even when she was away on holiday for a couple of weeks there would be food in the house and I’d only need to pop into the local COOP for bread and milk.
However , a few weeks ago she wasn’t feeling too well and I took her to the shops and of course went into push the trolly. Not going in for a while was certainly an eye opener as to how prices have risen . Seeing the tinned section I suggested a few more tins of beans (I know I know but I really do like them) and was shocked at the price they are now. Made the wife chuckle at least…

Not at all Grenfell, I give my wife most of my wages and she runs the house as she’s far better than me at doing these things.

Anyhow, I usually make home made soup for my lunch but unfortunately I left it on the bunker and had to go Tesco for lunch.

Pot Noodles have gone up from £1 to £1.10. Now it’s a daft wee thing but that’s a considerable price hike, what else is going up?

Tesco Stockwell baked beans have just leapt from 28p to 29p
Still good value and quality, though a bit deeper in sauce. I suspect they are made by Heinz.

Not human food but the Sheba we buy for our cat has gone from £26.98 last month to just over £33.00 this month. As we know hisnibs will eat this brand it is pointless trying him on something cheaper which he will turn his nose up at. There was a shortage of it in 2022 and I can see from previous orders that it was £39 then It seems to be slowly creeping back up.
