Wow I did am epic long post even by my standards

The guy delivered today saying he used to deliver logs for firewood but said it wasn't worth the money with the time and diesel. Considering how expensive logs are I suspect you're right that they really need to recoup costs from quite large overheads. Nice chap so I'll likely get them from him again

Not me for once but my parents

Had their gas boiler serviced over a month ago and the heat exchangers perforated and leaking bare in mind it's a old glow worm back boiler circa 40 years old

Dad knows it was getting on but decided to run it into the ground think he was hoping it'd see him out ;)

Well 2x local plumbers have been for a look and left saying they'll quote. 1 month on not one call or email from either with a price or anything :|

Knowing that this heat exchange unit could leak and flood the lounge it needs doing sooner rather than later

So he contacted British gas Saturday to make an appointment..

Sunday they said see you Monday

This evening as arranged the man came discussing all options etc..

At about 6:30 I rung my dad as the company rep was still there parked on their drive I have remote access to their cctv thinking they were been put under pressure .. Dad answered on speaker phone and I wasn't aware and dont think my mum was impressed with my direct language to my dad "see the reps there are you ok or do you want me to come with some of the lads and tell him to ** go away?** convinantly timed 2 mates walked into the bar saying good evening to me as they walked In...

dad's worked as a contractor so uses site language when my mums not around

turns out no they'd got a quotation there and then sorted our finance it's a big bill but there's a LOT of work to do... boilers moving from back room behind the fire to front porch ... pump needs moving from under back room floor to airing cupboard

New gas pipe from other side of the house .. etc etc etc

They've paid the deposit set up 3 year's interest free credit and signed on the line
If your roughing it, Your doing it wrong ;)

Lack of planning on your part doesn't make it an emergency on mine

My dad can hold his own but north of 70 I keep an eye out you see that many companies try to take advantage

Thought I'd check in if I'd not had to be home for my tea tonight I'd have called in on my way home or before going out tonight to catch up with some friends but theyd have happily come up to his hoyse most of them know him anyway

I'm still in trouble for the voice message on the cctv camera down the side of the house when it detects motion it's a dead end between their house and next doors over the summer he caught the rough round the edges gardener clearing next doors garden taking his tower scaffolding from down there and a week later someone else caught on cctv dad phone pinged and him and the brother in law had words..

Think the phoenix nights car alarm sketch but via a cctv loudspeaker

NSFW or little ears

Mum only discovered the warm welcome message when she went to wash the little window

My dad thought it was a good idea as its like you've opened the app and are speaking directly at them... "oi what the flipping heck are you doing, I suggest you go away now" sort of speech

Like I said to my dad it's pitch black down there at night so if your creeping about upto no good the camera takes a few seconds to wake up on seeing movement it fires up the infared light you can just see a dull red glowing you look for it ... then you hear a voice what's the first thing you do after you've jumped a Mile... look straight at where the voice is coming from ..... smile for the camera.
