It’s been a mix. Helps with the pain and feels way better than tramadol, but finding the right strain and dose took some trial and error. Some days it’s spot on, other days not as much.Arzosah wrote: ↑Mon Mar 31, 2025 9:03 amYes, it's very patchy, but I'm glad your experience has been positive. What's your experience been of the actual medication?Insulin wrote: ↑Sun Mar 30, 2025 2:51 pm I’ve been on tramadol for years due to chronic pain, and lately, I started looking into cannabis as an alternative. Was expecting a nightmare of paperwork and appointments, but it turned out to be pretty straightforward, GP approval, a video consultation, and then discussing the options.
Of course, experiences vary, and some clinics seem to handle things better than others.

That makes sense, Insulin. I'm presuming that there are so many sub-species etc, and the legal market is so small still, that variability is still inbuilt into the system. It's a plant, after all! It's a good thing that it works for you sometimes, at least.

That variation is part of the reason that plant based medicines are processed.
The acetylsalicylic acid in Asprin was extracted from willow bark which had been used as a pain relieving tea for centuries, the problem with willow bark is variety, harvesting, drying, and preparing the tea all change how much of the active ingredient is present.
Insulin: Its good to hear that you've found that it works for you.

I’m glad it’s working well too, it’s one of those perfect examples of plant-based origin turned into life-saving modern medicineForgeCorvus wrote: ↑Wed Apr 02, 2025 7:42 pm That variation is part of the reason that plant based medicines are processed.

"For anyone looking for something easier than flower or oil, I switched to high-potency CBD gummies – they’re easier to dose and gentler on the stomach. I take them in the evening, especially when the pain is persistent and I need proper rest.
I found some really effective options at this well-reviewed CBD shop – might help others who are looking for alternatives to tramadol."

I’ve recently tried a few tins of ‘Trip’ which is a soft drink with CBD in it.
I drink it about an hour before bed when my back is particularly sore and likely to keep waking me up. So far, I’ve slept straight through without waking. Admittedly, I had some weird dreams though lol.

Prepping for lifes little mishaps, and some of the bigger ones as well.

I drink those - the peach and ginger ones - they are lovely.Britcit wrote: ↑Thu Jun 05, 2025 1:27 am I’ve recently tried a few tins of ‘Trip’ which is a soft drink with CBD in it.

I was down in York for the weekend and went into a CBD shop to have a chat about strengths etc. I told her it was for a dodgy knee and I went away with a CBD cream to try.
The gummies never really worked for me so going to give this a go, not that I’m expecting great results. I will keep you all updated if you want.
Edited - if you want a laugh there was a TV programme called Gone to Pot which was a bunch of ‘celebrities’ like Christopher Biggins, Pam St Clement and others went to California to see if CBD could help their pains. It is actually hilarious and the most accidental Partridge you could get as ‘Pat Butcher getting stoned with nuns’ deserved a show of its own…. It’s on YouTube

You can now legally get weed/cannabis. Many sites such as Curaleaf offering it you, various types and amounts up to an ounce. However sites like HempElf are vastly cheaper.

Bump. I had a few extra groats this month so I’ve bought a medium strength bottle to see if it makes any difference to my knee pain.
I’m being asked to have a pain medication review for my cocodamol, I only take two a day in the morning with the odd top up at lunchtime if I’m heading up to 20k steps but my quack wants a word…
