15 litres = 15 kg = 33 lbs

15 kg is pretty heavy. You need to be careful even lifting 10 kg. My bike weighs about 17 kg, including racks, lock and a bottle of water. I have to lift it up to get it out of the house, down onto the back door step, and down again onto the ground. I'm only lifting it a foot or two off the ground. If I had to get it over a fence, I think I'd have to lift it onto it, and then push it off.

This is why I stick to 5 and 10 litre containers for water now. I have a 25, but nowhere to stand it full, so it's empty.

A pint weighs just over a pound, excluding glass, or just under half a kg.

So, 15 litres weighs the same as about 30 pints.

I use these for my Military Jerry cans:

Two is one and one is none, but three is even better.

I might get one if I ever find space for a full 25 litre container. At the moment its perched on its side on top of stuff in the prep room.

Not so much prepping but I’m getting the garden ready for summer. The fence is half painted, I feel like the karate kid.

I have 3 hand pumps  no i’m not showing off.

One for potable water, one for untreated water, similarly i keep a couple of containers
for untreated water marked “mucky” to keep separate from the potable.

Then there’s one for fuel in the car should i have to scavenge any fuel.

Everything is marked so there is no danger of any contamination.

Another option is to embrace the weight of water and use it as an exercise aid. I'm a sucker for punishment and carry two 25 litre water containers to & from the hose pipe (about 50m) each week to deliberately to get a bit of a work out. And, heaven forbid, should I ever have to bug out (which is absolute bottom of life choices), at least I know I'm vaguely strong.

I sorted out my 2 25l water containers this week. Just getting them the 3 or 4m from hose to storage shed was a challenge. I now know I will need something closer to a 5l container for day to day lugging up the stairs as I don't think I can improve my strength to the extent needed to manage the 25l and will need to decant downstairs.

I fill mine in the bath. The 10l ones fit under the tap. I put the lid under one edge so they sit right, so I don't need to hold them.
