Looking for car stove advice

Hello All
I have a multi-fuel stove that can run on unleaded, paraffin and stupidly expensive coleman fuel.
This was my go to car stove for several years because I could refill it from my reserve petrol can and thereby not have to carry another fuel.
The problem now is my new (to me) car is Diesel, I'm very happy with it (and its £35 annual road tax) and I'm not planning on changing any time soon.

I have several different types of gas canister stoves and stoves that run on other fuels such as alcohol, paraffin or wood. But what I'm looking for is a diesel fuelled pressure stove about the size of a shoebox that I won't need to sell a kidney to buy.



Thats the challenge, does the List accept ?

Military No 12 Burner.

It is designed to use diesel, kerosene, or paraffin fuel.

Unfortunately kidneys will be involved, unless you find ebay or military surplus to be generous.

You get what you pay for, I guess. Primus Multifuel stove burns diesel, but it's £185. Polaris Optifuel is another option, but it's even more expensive, £230. I think both can use cannister gas as well as various liquid fuels. MSR Dragonfly is another option £185.

None of these lighter weight models burn diesel very well though- it's more a case of 'can burn diesel if you can't find anything else, expect soot and very frequent maintenance'. Fine in a real emergency though.

As mentioned, the British Army No.12 or the Heinze Geniol are the real contenders, but investments (and heavy!).

For the record, Aspen 4T is equal or superior to Coleman fuel at lower price. Even cheaper ways of buying pure naptha are the solvent type panel wipes, and Holts brake cleaner (can currently be had at £15 for 5l). Great for older 'petrol' stoves like Optimus 8Rs and similar.

Weight isn't that big an issue (although packing into a neat cube is good), like I said its for the car..... My ditch kit has a popcan stove, a plastic bottle of bio-eth and a tiny lidded 'mess tin'
Diesel mainly because I don't want to have to remember fuel as well as everything else.
I don't like storing gas canisters in the car long term and this is to load& leave.

The #12 looks great and some of the ebay prices mean I wouldn't need to sell a whole kidney
Is it any harder to run then a pressure lamp, paraffin blowtorch or Peak One ?

Thats less of a faff then either of my lamps....... Or the Peak One for that matter.

Now I just need to find one in my price range
