I have two pairs of safety glasses. Had one one yesterday, spraying some weedkiller. Not sure it's done much. Stupidly, I forgot the one I mainly bought it for, which is a small tree that grows in my cellar light well. I cut it with pruning shears anyway.

Started shredding some 8 year old bank statements that were in the prep room. Checked some boots and cycling shoes I've not worn for ages, to make sure there's no mould (I found a mouldy pair recently!). Opened the window to air the prep room.

Added a note to my evacuation plan to grab some Koka noodles, which I keep in the prep room now, on top of a box of 48 bog rolls, because they come in a long box of 30.

Made a note to buy Seven Seas ration bars, as the ones in my BOB expire in August.

Checked what batteries my radio uses. 4 x AA. I have quite a few of those. I leave it plugged in, and put it on when there's no one in.

Got some more pasta and 4 tins of tuna for the food cupboard. Tried to chuck them towards the back of the bottom shelf. It's a corner cupboard, so is twice as wide as normal, but the door is just normal width.

Ordered an ultra thin duvet for the summer, Tog 1. And a different coloured duvet cover, so I know which is which. In the winter, I might use both. The one I was using is tog 3 which is a bit hot in summer, especially if we have a heatwave. Rotated my mattress, put my new sheet on. My new pillow arrived and it's great! It will replace two nasty looking ones. It's a Dunlopillo latex, deep. I think it'll be perfect for side sleeping. I just need to use one thin pillow under it for when I'm on my back during the day. So I ordered one cheap one.

Only thing that did for us was a feral but friendly tomcat and later on a Rat Man that the neighbour paid for (well she overfed the birds and attracted the rats in the first place). The whole terrace of 4 houses got them in the end. RatMan was great.
Thank you

Another heat wave coming back end of next week. My new Tog 1 duvet and different coloured duvet cover arrived today. Got my current (Tog 3) one washed yesterday, so I can put it in storage 'til the autumn. I'm using different colours, so if I use both in winter I know which is which. But I might just buy a Tog 4.5 for winter. The new one is very thin, but hopefully will be ok for the next few months. I also have a thicker (not sure why they are so different when they are supposed to be the same) Tog 3 in the attic, but I'm a bit worried it might get fibreglass in it. I'll probably bring it down at some point, give it and the duvet cover a wash, then keep them down here.

Got my expensive new latex pillow in a breathable but waterproof protector. They were only £7 for four. Old one got sweat stained in previous heat waves. I've also got a cooling cover on it, but that's sort of negated by an ordinary pillow case on top of that. I might take that off if it gets very hot. The cooling covers did actually feel cold when I unwrapped them the other day. They are called Seriously Comfortable CoolZone™ Pillow Cover Pair × 1
Here's a link to the protectors...some reviews say they aren't completely waterproof, but hopefully they are better than nowt. Unfortunately you can't wash latex pillows. The pillow has it's own cover, that you can wash, so mine has a total of 4 covers on it.

On the back of us loosing water for.2 weeks about 1.5 years ago I finally bit the bullet and ordered a 6l british berkfield gravity filter on offer + A discount code £128 delivered..

Had been looking at the lifesaver cube but that's a lot more complex ( needs pumping up to work) ect

I've had my eye on the Berkfield for a while, but a slightly larger one, it's still on my wishlist as is a Lifesaver jerrycan, not cheap at £299, but might be useful for when we go camping or to keep in the truck.

We got a Berkefeld a couple of months ago at about the same price as Andy after being one postcode away from no water for most of a week. They seem to be well made solid kit.

Was still a bit warm last night with my new super-thin Tog 1 duvet. Last night it got down to 15° outside, but my room is 24°. So I took the cover off my old duvet, and I'll use the cover on its own, with no duvet, when it gets hotter. Next two nights should be a bit cooler though.

40° plus in parts of France and Spain.

Broke a tooth, will have to ring the dentist tomorrow. It's not hurting. I'm glad, in a way, because I've been getting twinges, but I wasn't sure which tooth. Hope it's just a filling and not a crown needed. The other tooth I thought it might have been has a metal crown that was only done a year or two ago, so I'm glad it's not that one.
