What Preps are you doing this week? Part 12
Re: What Preps are you doing this week? Part 12
My room is 14° warmer than outside, with the window open. 10° outside, 24° in, so it's gonna get hot in here later this week! Forecast is 29°. I can't afford air con, and I really feel the heat, more than most people. Will prepare for it the best I can.
Re: What Preps are you doing this week? Part 12
We are expecting mid thirties next week. Not nice as Mr GB has health problems that are worse in heat.
We use a fan in a window to force cooler air into the room if outside is cooler morning and evening. Close curtains on the sunny side if the house to reduce heat build up. Keep bottles of water frozen to wrap and use as cool packs. Put feet in a bowl of cool (not cold) water while seated. Splash face hair and neck with water as needed. And lots of drinks and ice lollies(home made fruit puree in a mould)

Accu forecasting 31 here at the weekend.
Replaced some expired puri tabs in my BOB with some I already had, but have 2 years left.
Simplified my batteries spreadsheet, so the expiry date format is just a year, and sorted in order. It's still a bit incomplete. If I'm not sure, I just give them 5 years from purchase, but I don't necessarily replace them straight away. Some coin batteries have a 10 year life, and some smoke alarms now come with 10 year batteries. I charge my NiMH AAs and AAAs up every October if they aren't in regular use.
Made appointment to see dentist about the broken tooth.

Same one as before
Lifted a drain cover found droppings so dealing with it all and a few traps and poison set up
I used my own torch last time he was so impressed and this time has turned up with one of his own !
Had a chuckle
Think it was about 18 months ago that Yorkshire Andy was on the ..I've bought this torch that torch etc
Set us all off on the torch collections

Went to dentist, got it all sorted. Just a large filling. I was lucky, got a cancellation. Actually he did a temporary repair, but then there was another cancellation, so I went back. This should last a fair while. I like this dentist, a young Chinese guy. He never tries to upsell. Usually they say checkup in 6 months, he says 12, and he never says you need to see the hygeinist, which previous ones usually did. And no 'damn this is hard to reach' nonsense. This was upper back tooth.
It's only 5 mins walk to the dentist, and the weather was lovely.
Gonna use some preps, make a batch of pasta sauce and use up some pasta. Will put one in the fridge and some in the freezer. Hardly eaten, with two dentist visits.
And Amazon turned up during the hour and a half I had in between the visits. Nice timing. Brought me some more storage bags to go under the bed (for duvets. winter clothes etc).

I don't have an ice tray, don't think so, I'll check. If not, I can get one.ForgeCorvus wrote: ↑Mon Jul 07, 2025 5:56 pmTry a "Swamp Cooler"....... A bowl of ice in front of an electric fan

Even just the coolest water you can find will help, but ice is betterFrnc wrote: ↑Tue Jul 08, 2025 5:38 amI don't have an ice tray, don't think so, I'll check. If not, I can get one.ForgeCorvus wrote: ↑Mon Jul 07, 2025 5:56 pmTry a "Swamp Cooler"....... A bowl of ice in front of an electric fan
