Got some more Milton tabs for steralising water containers. Done all bar two. This time I've added Oasis tabs to the fresh water. You are advised to add them after putting the water in, and leave the lid off for half an hour. Obviously, store the water away from light.

Added draught excluder strip around my bedroom door, as I'm mainly only going to heat my room this winter using an electric radiator. Didn't have enough, so ordered another roll. It's a simple V strip, comes flat with self adhesive on one half.

The pictures don't show how to use it properly. You fold it in half, so it's a V shape, then stick it in the rebate. Am going to buy a door snake for the bottom. It has a stick on strip that velcros to the snake. They come in different lengths. Or you can use a brush type strip. Rest of the house will be heated minimally, to around 16-17°.
If you've got an Edwardian (or older) house, traditional door curtains look Period and do an amazingly good job....... The hangers are designed to lift the curtain as you open the door so you don't get all jammed up.
I have a new house but I'd like one of those.

I love reading all the snippets of what everyone is doing on here and I get so many ideas! For me, personally, I’ve calmed down a bit on the ‘buying stuff’ phase (Mr McPrepper breathes a huge sigh of relief) and I’m focused now on ‘skills’ and ‘fitness’! I’ve been really pushing myself on my daily dog walk up the hill behind my house and trying to go further and faster … it’s paying off as I’ve lost weight, feel fitter and stronger and think my overall health is, hopefully, benefiting. I feel like all the tins of beans in the world won’t help me in a SHTF scenario if I don’t focus a little energy on my health. We’ll see …

Fitness is one of the best preps you can do. I've neglected my cycling this year, but I have got my exercise mat out in the front living room now. And I cleared space so I can use my exercise bike in the winter. Also put some resistance bands on my pullup bar in the kitchen doorway. So no excuse really, just need to get into more of a routine.

Skills are another good prep that doesn't need to cost much. Facebook reels has been showing me a lot of knots recently. Also some from Wild Food UK.

Got my flu jab yesterday. No reaction, touch wood. Should have taken glasses, had to fill out a form. It was NHS, but done in Tescos.

Got a new Platypus collapsible water bottle delivered. You can fit several of these in a bugoug bag, for almost no weight. I only keep one full, but I would likely fill more depending on circumstances. You can also use one with a Sawyer if you break or lose it's dirty water bag, but some people have reported leaks.

Checked and adjusted trickle vents on new windows. Surprisingly, mine was shut. Maybe that happened fitting the blind after decorating. Window was open throughout the summer anyway. You can open them from the top or bottom. Not sure what difference it makes.

It is getting a bit blowy. Feeling very proud of myself as I remembered to strap down the bins BEFORE they went for a Burton.

Nurseandy I dono if you're on the Kilties weather site, but they're saying the far north and Aberdeenshire is a good bit worse than expected. Loads of trees coming down all over the place now.
