I just cook rice in a small saucepan with more water than needed. When the rice is nearly cooked I drain the excess water and let it sit without heat (lid on) to finish cooking. Works well for me and if I am unlucky and the rice is a little high in arsenic then it will leach into the water and get removed.

Arsenic in rice?
Well, I never knew that!
Back to cooking rice... I rinse and pop 1 rice to 2 water in a pan, then bring to the boil on a stove top, before dropping to a low simmer with one quick stir. Simmer till the water is gone. Maybe it's using a ceramic hob or maybe I'm a rubbish cook, but I either end up with it dry, bitey and undercooked, or I add extra water and end up with wet and sloppy mess.

I guess I really should experiment until I get it right.

My rice difficulty is because I'm careless, I admit it. But ignoring that leads to burned pans, inedible food, a dirty hob, all sorts. There's only so much effort I can put into things  and rice cookery loses out ....

I sometimes soak the rice overnight as it seems to make it cook quicker and comes out softer. I too didn't know about the arsenic so I googled whether soaking is a good idea or not and it said that it's fine especially if the water is changed prior to cooking as any impurities would have leeched into the water.

I have burnt so very many dinners that I only allow myself to leave the kitchen if the timer is on. Otherwise I get distracted and the food is ruined.
