Have we any firemen or maybe gas engineers?
We're in an all-electric flat, sheltered housing for over 55s. Crammed full of bloody alarms and digital screens where you can call for help or talk to the HA. I really really want a wee camp stove for possible power cuts- just so I can have tea or cuppa soup. Would this set off the fire alarms? (they are linked throughout the flat and set each other off, the racket is horrendous). And they go straight to the fire station up the road, and apparently you get a fireman yelling through the touch screen thingy asking what's going on. (This has happened with our neighbours so it's true).

Only if you make lots of smoke
You'd have more chance of setting it off burning toast in the toaster

I believe a one ring calor stove would be ok. Certainly better than the rocket stove I tested indoors ,diamond lil wrote: ↑Mon Feb 16, 2026 4:31 pm We're in an all-electric flat, sheltered housing for over 55s. Won't set off an alarm.
Only use indoors for a few minutes.
Have ventilation.
Use carefully on stable surface.
Beware dangers of Carbon Monoxide.

Youll be fine but make sure it's not visible when they do the annual fire check ..I'm presuming you have one along with the..let's make sure DL hasnt wrecked the place check
Know someone same position same gadgets etc when it was seen was told I have to ask you to remove this from your property now I've seen it ..
Think there's something in tenancy as to no gas bottles/canisters etc allowd inside . .
Best check and if you get one have a cupboard to stick it in .

I'm not sure if you rent or own your place but if you rent have a read of your tenancy agreement as sometimes they state no portable gas appliances (calor gas heaters usually). However, they could use this against you if they found out that you were using a gas stove. I have no idea if it would set off the smoke alarm or you may have heat detectors in which case I am even less sure (sorry). If you do get one keep it hidden.
Growing old disgracefully!

Other option is a chafing gell stove or trangia as they won't have that in the forbidden list
