bow

Post by buttystella »

bought a Samick Polaris wooden recurve bow with a metal riser having being advised it was a good first bow i am really pleased i took the plunge. It cost £54 add bloody 20% vat brings it to £64 jeeze and a gallon of petrol, no wonder the economy is struggling. One thing that i don't like is that it makes a twang like a guitar string when shooting other than that i like it.

I'm just starting to look at recurve bows myself. Seems a bit less to go wrong than compounds, the one you bought seems a nice peace of kit.

yes bloke, that's one of the reasons i got one, less to go wrong the ends can be replaced and easy to transport when taken down. it takes a couple of minutes to put up and the vendor said the string should last at least a year.

i've got a couple of longbows and a stock of arrows, easy and simple to use and you dont have to keep restringing them as there is no strain on the string until you pull it back to fire. got 1 in a car boot cost me £2-i dont think the guy knew what it was, the other cost me £25 in a market, both good bows it was the arrows that cost the money.

I tried some archery whilst on holiday last year and really liked it. Except for the fact that my first trang hit my elbow and came up like tennis ball and went black. You only make thta mistake once.

Anyway, despite being right handed, I fire a bow left handed. My right arm is the one that holds the bow and my left pulls the string.

This just feels so much more natural to me. Am I unusual in this or are there others?

I hold a rifle in the right handed way with my right hand on the trigger, it is just when it comes to Bows. However I do eat with my fork in the right hand and knife in my left which everyone things is weird.

So here is my question.

Are most bows ambidextrous or do I have to buy a left handed bow? Should I try and learn to do it the other way?

Finally, which hand do most people hold a catapult in? That is very similar to a bow and I see a lot of people holding it in their right hand. This makes me think that I am right and everyone else is wrong. And my dad is bigger than your dad, and it's my ball, and you're not playing. Na Na Nee Na Na.

Be lucky (and jejune)
