Dew Collector
I am looking at building a dew collector to help with water collection. During times of drought and water restrictions, does anyone have a good design that has been tested?
Re: Dew Collector
There are lots of ways to do it. Depends how much space you have, and how much you want to spend, and amount of effort.
I believe location is quite important. You ideally want somewhere like a grassy field. Heavy vegetation can impede dew formation. Near water is even better.
The simplest form is a plastic sheet on the ground. A more elaborate one is a sheet on an angle, on a frame, so you can squeegee the water into a gutter. I don't know how you make a thin sheet rigid though. You'd want it taut. I think thin works best as it has a big surface area to volume, like blades of grass. This means it's efficient at radiating infrared at night, and can thus get cold.
Even simpler is a cloth to soak up dew from grass.
At the other extreme you can build an active system with a fan.

Here's one page I found, has some general info on location

Fascinating! I used to live near a dew pond https://www.brighton-hove.gov.uk/librar ... /dew-ponds

There's a lot of YT videos, I'm sorry I can't check them beforehand for quality, but the first half dozen or so videos look pretty good: https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=dew+pond
