10 years ago I got 11 solar panels fitted, just getting into the governments higher rate FIT payment scheme before it reduced the agreed payment rate and then cancelled the scheme altogether. They are paid off now and the benefit is clear! At the time, bit wasn't really worth the extra expense to get a battery storage system, but now I am considering it again with the growing risk of energy insecurity and as my panels may well be less productive for grid export within ten more years.
Does anyone have any experience or recommendations? I was a bit leery about giant lithium-ion piles in my wooden loft, what with the potential fire risk, but my Polish neighbour, an Engineer, has assuaged my general fears in this regard, they are apparently much safer now.
I have also heard that mass production of new, efficient, salt batteries is about to begin, which I have heard may both be cheaper, or equivalent in cost, but also potentially have a longer life cycle than LIon.
Should I wait for this new technology (apparently coming to market within a year) or should I get a Lithium Ion set up? If so, which one?

Have a poke around for solar. A fair few of us have built our own rigs.
