I do carry hand sanitiser but I just see that as good sense, not specifically Covid-related.

It's just bad luck if you get it. I got it when I'd not left the house. Second time I'd gone to a gig in London, but it hit me 48 hours after leaving my house, so I must have got it before leaving Manchester. Even then, only time I'd been out was to go to Sainsbury's. I wore a mask for that and the train journey.

I do take hand sanitizer wipes if I go away, but just for general hygeine if I'm eating something.

Basically, it can travel long distances through the air, so you can't really stop it.

I still have fond memories of the early days of COVID, before we knew it's specific severity or transmissibility. My porch became a clean room, a hand pumped garden sprayer, filled with 99% isopropyl I bought in bulk just as things were kicking off, helped steriliser the NBC suit and mask I wore outside for the first three months of lock down. It might seem extreme but both the other adults in my house were at risk so I felt the need to be extra cautious (plus it was the first time I ever had any cause to use my NBC suit ) I relaxed slightly after that, just using a rain mack and n95 masks, when it became clear it wasn't quite an apocalypse sickness, but the sterilisation station was a boon! When I did catch COVID it was a nightmare, I was ill for about a month, so I still mask up in most public places and on public transport, I wish people were more publically minded like in East Asia where that is habitual behaviour...

I think we forget how bad it seemed at first. If you already had an NBC suit, it must have seemed tailor made!

I bet - I still have hand gel and cleaning gear by the front door, and I stash shopping there too, before I clean it.

Totally agree - I still mask up on trains, I'm usually on a train that goes through an international airport, and people have flown in from heaven knows where ... or at exhibitions in London that I go to, people are very densely packed together.
