Entertainment

Post by badassam »

I've just been posting on the recommended reading forum, and it occurred to me that I'm going to want to have plenty to read once TSHTF. I'm also going to want something to do to help me get through the dark nights!

Is anyone laying in supplies for this kind of thing? To be honest, I hadn't properly thought about it before.

Especially if you have to bug out, this seems to be a big problem.

What would we need?

A few essential books - but they're heavy!

Cards - but imagine how annoying it would be to lose one...

Dice?

Some kind of chess set?

Would love to hear what others have been thinking about this...

Our intention is to Fort Up. To keep us (in)sane we have a fine collection of books. Plus

1 Fiddle
1 Mandolin
2 Accordians
1 Bhodrahn
1 Bouzouki (Irish Tuned)

Plus

A damned fine collection of RPGs. AD&D (1st Edition) WarHammer, PAranoia, TMNT, Toon, Gurps, CoC, Chill, Car Wars...

Hot Damn... I want to dig out the funny dice & pizza now..

I hope you know how to play those instruments - otherwise it could get painful!

But yes, music is quite a big one, isn't it? Might lay in some 78s and a wind-up gramophone... That would be better than my guitar playing, anyway...

i do admire anyone who can play a musical instrument, but i just wonder in a "fort up"/bug in situation, wont the looters/mob be able to hear you?i suppose in a looting event they wont care if the property is occupied or empty so making a noise wont much matter.

How much does it cost to soundproof a house?!

The way my daughter plays the clarinet, it is considered an offensive weapon. She could be used by the military as a secret weapon, 30 minutes of her playing and the subversives would be spilling all.

On a lighter side we have a few packs of playing cards, dominos, scrabble, guess who & monoply.
A couple of book cases of books, yarn, fabric, a hand crank sewing machine in need of the tension tweeking. Should keep us occupied for half an hour.

Sorry, I should point out Instruments are for PAW use. SHTF looters are greeted with a completely different range of equipment.

One tries. Strange SHTF dreams the other night. I was arming people with items from our armoury because of raiders. Worked our way through distance weapons, mele weapons large, mele weapons small and left one recipient whimpering because all we had left was a pair of tweezers and part of a car ariel. Strange dreams

hehe, have you ever seen the movie 'Battle Royale'? Some of the guys are given uzi machine guns, crossbows and samurai swords, yet others are given a fork, and a paper fan!
