Re: What Preps are you doing this week
you gave me the umph to buy individual cells! i watched other videos but they were all american! due to space i bought whole cells! if i had more space i could have bought chipped and broken cells! I used the pencil rubber and tabbed the underside first but i'm going to put them face down and lay a strip of tape over the whole string of cells so i can position them more ealily on my backing board!

Our canner and some of the canned goods, including canned butternickdutch wrote:bought cheap canning kit off of ebay. now just got to get the mason jars from wilkinsons and the pressure cooker (possibly also from wilkinsons) to complete the "set"
Also now looking out for a cheap vacuuming solution (for mason jars primarily, as well as bagging) and one that will only be using food safe components
Hope the pics view ok, have resized them

Silverrider, am envious!
I'd love a canner but can't afford to import one from the States. That's looking good.

Canning or bottling? That looks like bottling to me.
You can bottle just with the jars in your oven if you extend the times. have a look for "dry pack bottling"

Think canning is American for bottling, same thing Ian.

Re: What Preps are you doing this week
I know that because of acidity in foods, lots of things I'd like to bottle won't be suitable without a canner, because water bath, oven or pressure cookers don't reach the required temperatures apparently.
If I ever win the Lotto, a canner is something I'll treat myself to.
*goes off to consider buying a ticket in the first place though......*

This is 'UK' Preppers.
Canning in the UK is putting into cans or tins.
Bottling is putting into glass bottles.
Canning is NOT bottling here
