Re: What Preps are you doing this week
I was driving past a surplus store and picked up an interesting Russian flashlight, featured a cree Q3 + blue and red LED's and a laser built in, also came with a gun mount. It was under £15 so I thought why not. I also picked up another S10 gasmask in its bag complete with everything, including two new sealed filters, plus the microphone for under £20 so I tried it on, and picked it up.

That's a real bargain that mask for £20, well done.

Especially seen as the filters were still in the foil, theyre hard to find.
Ive got 4 now stashed away but I'm always on the hunt for ones still wrapped.
I also added 4 more pots of decontaminating powder a few weeks ago, I'm starting to worry that theres more fullers earth in my cellar than there is earth in my garden?

Can I ask the reason for this? What chemical contamination are you expecting to come your way?I also added 4 more pots of decontaminating powder a few weeks ago

Nothing specific, dont worry, I'm not one of these people that's expecting WW3 tomorrow, but.. Ive got 2 full CBRN suits so just thought it prudent to have the powder to decontaminate just in case.
Ide rather have it and discover it again in a box in 50 years than God forbid need it and regret not picking it up.

And I thought you were going to use it to stop the sweaty feet
You'll need the dab and pat pads as well though,, the fullers earth puff bottles were more for the larger droplets, and even better the fullers earth powder sprayers that look like the powder fire extinguishers.
As you say, we have this stuff JIC, hopefully it will be gathering dust until our kids ask why.

I really need to get another CBRN suit. I tend to think of most my stuff as that, even if I never use it, when I have grand kids they will have cool toys. I remember playing my my grand dads bayonets from ww2 and the other bits he had kept from his time in the 7th Armoured Division.the7ps wrote:Nothing specific, dont worry, I'm not one of these people that's expecting WW3 tomorrow, but.. I have a big shopping list of kit I need to get this weekend, might have a look for another cbrn suit.

Re: What Preps are you doing this week
I got a bargain a few years back, 12 suits for a quid a piece, still tightly vacuum packed, if nothing else they are another layer of clothing, not much good for anything "risky" as they are past their shelf life dates.

Re: What Preps are you doing this week
Nipped into Blacks earlier in the week and picked up windproof matches and a Multimat seat mat. Both have gone in my EDC, with the latter probably being most useful when my bus (inevitably) terminates early and I'll be able to perch on damp walls in comfort to wait for the next one rather than stand about getting achy feet
I was actually looking for meths and a 0.5l fuel bottle. My 1l fuel bottle is nearly empty after a summer camping expedition and I'd like to swap the larger one for a wee one in my camp kit / BOB for sake of space while keeping the large one for topping up purposes. Also if the worst happens this winter and we have no power, I can stick my trangia in the kitchen and teach my housemates (and possibly my landlord!) how to cook on it! Then I'd need a big ol' bottle of meths!
I've a day off on Friday, so I'll be on a meths hunt as well as visiting Ikea for yet more candles for me and a big fleecy blanket or two for my mum. I'm off home for a visit in a couple of weeks so I'll take some supplies up with me for her. She's so far away from being a prepper it's untrue, so I have to sneak prep to her under the guise of 'it's a useful present Mum'!
Oh, and I just dug out some yarn from my stash to knit a new hat. I shrank my last one
and finished a new one last week only to find that my new yarn choice was rubbish - really slippery and fragile. The yarn had snapped more than once while knitting it, but as I finished it, it snapped and unravelled.
But tonight, I found enough of the last lot of wool so I can have another go! Hurrah!
