What size are they Itsy?

You could make some out of some scraps of wood and a knife blade, or go to B&Q and look in there hardware sections.

B&Q is probably the best place to go. You have to watch out for your bookcase's weight load but I pressume that if it's made for books then it will hold cans too. I bought 3 storage units with shelves from b&q that went under the stair a couple weeks ago and like you now have most of stuff in one place.

I will be ordering some 5l buckets so I will have them ready in time when the mylar bags arrive and after that lots of stuff will be vacuumed and packed :D

Have some useful sized plastic containers, we found that the square and rectangular ones were best as they take up less room than round ones which have gaps between when on the shelves.

Have you thought of doing an online shop? That way you can get a good stash of stuff brought straight to the door. If you pick an unpopular delivery time, then you can get it delivered for as little as £3.00 (ASDA I believe start at as little as £2.50) - probably the same price as your bus fare.
My problem is my eyes are bigger than my belly and I live in one room. My storage is limited. At the minute, buying bits and bobs will work better for me, financially as well as space wise. What I really need to do is completely sort my room out and chuck out all the cr*p that I've dragged with me with each move. Then I'd have some storage space. Until then, little and often will do. Also I have a monthly bus pass, so that sorts that bit out

Fix the room up first. Try to find a way to hide stuff, built-in hidey holes. Under the bed and behind furniture and on shelves maybe disguised as something else. Also above the door, people never look up as they go through a doorway :)

I'd have to build shelves and I'd never get my deposit back!

You're right. The room (of doom) is my priority. You wouldn't think that one space could give so much stress could you? If I could clear the plastic boxes of tat under my bed then I could fill them with grub! I've got all Fridays but one off for the rest of the year, so I'll try and make some headway then.

I have managed to clear four raised beds on my allotment, add some compost/chicken poo (the stench nearly knocked me sideways as I think it had been fermenting lol, but it'll do) and cover them with cardboard. This is the first time ever that I have got my backside into gear to do some clearing in the autumn instead of being faced with an overwhelming task in the spring. I know there'll be some weeds in them but I'm hoping that the time I've spent this weekend will be more than repaid. If it is fine next weekend I'll try and do some more. Then that'll be it, I think, as according to Piers Corbyn, the exceptionally cold weather will be setting in from 27 November :(

I've also tidied my bedroom and made a bit more space, and eventually I plan to put some more shelves up as well.

I've decided to take 20 or 30 minutes each night to dim the lights, light a candle and be peaceful/pray/meditate. It may sound odd but I did it last night and felt very calm afterwards so I'm sure in the long run it will pay dividends for my ability to cope with stress.

Busy day today, earned £40 on the tabletop sale this morning, planted 100 onion bulbs and laid the base for an outside loo on the plot. Well earned 'Green Drinks' tonight - catching up with the tranistion town lads and lasses!
