Is it legal to slaughter your own animals? I remember watching Hugh Fearney Whittingstall - he had pigs and wanted to slaughter them himself but ended up having to send them to a slaughter house. Can't remember the exact reason why, though. :?

Ah, right, I see. I assume you have to uphold specific animal welfare/hygiene standards?

So you can slaughter an animal any way you want, without recourse, if you carry out the killing inhumanely? Blimey - I didn't know that!

I think you are allowed to, as long as the animal doesnt unduly suffer, and its for personal consumption as already mentioned.

By trade I am a Slaughterman. If you are doing it with NO Experience-you are breaking the law. Sorry ,but I have to have a licence-and prove competence. Otherwise I can be prosecuted for cruelty.

I strongly advise you to find someone who knows/is qualified. I may be a professional Butcher and dead animals are my business. I hunt and fish.

But I take a Dim view of animal distress and cruelty.

Yes, this is what I thought - you need licence, etc.
