DIET

Post by diamond lil »

What does everybody think is the perfect healthy diet? And NO arguments please re vegetarians or meat eaters. Just a discussion. because it is part of prepping - if the country goes down the tubes, if the NHS gets privatised or sidelined, then it involves us all and we need to try and stay healthy as long as we can.
Which countries have the longest lived people? Has any one food or diet been proven to keep people well?

I think balance and moderation is the key. Whether one particular cuisine is better than another is debatable, unless its fast food only!

Prepping wise my concern is the amount of salt in cans and other preserved goods.

The meditteranean diet has long been hailed as pretty good. I eat that way a lot time anyway, as I just love the food. I eat a lot of pasta (not with creamy sauces!), houmous, feta, nuts and dried fruit, couscous, olives, olive oil, fish, etc.

I'm definitely living in the wrong country!

Fresher stuff.
Sprouts, green leafy vegetables, nuts, beans, seeds, more or less palio.

But that could be just speculation on the part of palio fanatics.
i am doing quite well on a rice, bean and lentil diet although its boring as cardboard.

A well thought out balanced diet (No Lil that's not chocolate in each hand ;) ) trying to get all your vitamins and minerals from fresh fruit n veg, without the addition of supplement tablets.

Tomato-based sauces. Bolognaise. Or spaghetti with simply a drizzle of truffle oil and some fresh parmezan and black pepper. Or linguini with king prawns and pomodorino tomatoes with some chilli oil. Etc. etc. You just have to use your imagination!

Yes, Lil. They are food. Perhaps not where you live, but in the big wide world, they are food, enjoyed by millions!!!
