Greetings all,
I have had and am having a few, day and two day, trips with work and was wondering what others have or would consider adding to their loads?
I am going to cities via public transport so no car and errr no lockknives, so just the gear I can carry conveniently.
I have my work/pub gear but then what? One can almost see TSHTF when I am a hundred miles from home and it all kicks off-Sods law!
I guess the question you need to ask yourself is how long would it take you to walk home from where you are?
For starters, a warm, waterproof jacket, if you're not gonna be wearing it already - ditto for good, sturdy walking trainers/shoes. Water, energy/snack bars, compass, torch, maps, multitool, tarp (just in case!).
My INCH bag over the winter months has a few bits in it just in case I get stuck with the van or stuck in another town/city.
Waterproof jacket
Complete change of outer clothes
two sets of underwear
one set thermals
one pair gortex boot liners
Hat, gloves and scarf
Sleeping bag
Gortex bivvy bag
Spare thermos flask .5ltr (empty)
Brew kit, tea, coffee, hot chocolate, sugar, powdered milk.
Hexamine stove and fuel blocks
Small gas stove and gas cannister.
Mess tin
KFS set
24hr ration pack
pocket radio
A full well stocked ghb would be perfect but I'm guessing a little impractical so focus on the priorities. Shelter -lightweight tarp and some warm clothes is a start. Water - a good number of puritabs take up little space and will keep you going. Fire - a bic lighter is enough really... Food - energy dense foods, jerky for example. Small fak will cover any everyday issues as well. Finally a multitool or swiss army knife. (Bottom of your bag until its needed)
