You want to eat three palette loads of grub that you don't like? Be my guest. Some people may prefer food that they actually enjoy. Trying a tin of something before you go ahead and bulk purchase is just good sense, IMHO.tfish wrote:itsybitsy wrote:Have you had it before Rayman? If not then you may want to try a tin before you buy a load in. Just in case its rank!Rayman wrote:got 4 tins of 35p ravioli from tescos tonight, oct 2014 date on them, quite high in calories, think i may well be getting a tray of these
Where does "tasting rank" come into a survival situation?
What Preps are you doing this week

Re: What Preps are you doing this week
Stuff that you can eat but that tastes like the stuff that hits the fan can be improved the Indian way, through herbs and spices. A few good curry powders will probably be a good move.
I am doing nothing to help me "prep" until I have some money do do some of that with.
Until then its just a question of learning, gentle exercise (walking), improving existing skills etc.

That's your personal opinion. Others have different opinions. I don't store food that I don't like - I don't see the point.tfish wrote:I look for price and calorie & nutroianl value. If its right I buy.

I was merely offering advice to Rayman, based on my own experiences. Just because it's not the way you would do things, doesn't mean it's the wrong way.

you know what they say(about storing food) dont you?: "Store what you eat, eat what you store", dont buy something just because it cheap, if its not something you normally eat.tfish wrote:Of course.

If you were freezing in the cold outside and i offered you a goosedown jacket to wear, but it came in your least favorite colour.
Would you accept it?
Please explain you answer and how its different from Eating something that you dont "like the taste of"

If you don't 'store what you eat' it won't get rotated and when you need it it will be even worse.
Three rules:
Store what you eat.
Eat what you store.
Rotate, rotate, rotate.
you need to follow all of them not one.

Re: What Preps are you doing this week
I am not fussy how things taste, ill eat anything, Inc Rats and Worms if need be.
Ill eat my rotation, if something costs a good percentage less but contains what I want its spliting hairs.
We are preparing for SURVIVAL here or at least supposed to be.
Favorite Ravioli's pales into insignificance in my opinion, and remember its just my opinion!

Surviving is easy. What is more difficult is to survive in style and comfort. But as you say that is just my take on things.
