Keyed alike padlocks

Post by skippy »

Being waaaaay off in the sticks, we have not realy felt it necessary to lock up our doors ... in fact I cant remember when I last locked the front door... however rising energy costs have seen a spate of fuel and farm thefts around the area and we want to start armouring up.
Can the UKP worthies reccomend me a set (6+) of keyed alike padlocks to start the process?

Also I need to start thinking in terms of access control / deterant, any ideas?

Thanks for the links all information gratefully received ... however does anyone have opinions on the best to buy as I have has supposedly weatherproof or robust padlocks jam up/ fall apart /not open and have to be cut off etc etc .

all padlocks if out in the weather will eventually rust up and sieze, the waterproof ones may last a bit longer but will eventually sieze up even if oiled regularly.

I use squires myself. They look like a classic lock but couldn't tell you what model they are. A good locksmith would be able to provide as many keyed alike as you wanted as well as keyed differently with a master for all. As for their robustness, I treat mine at the start of winter with a healthy dose of wd40 to help prevent freezing. No problems irrespective of whether used ten times a day or once a month.
