So guys, you've now got your mylar bags and oxygen absorbers, would any of you like to comment on what you have stored in them, how you went about doing this and where you have stored the full bags?
Just for information for some of our newer (and not so new) members.
Thanks.

In fact, the answers might be best in a new thread if anyone is willing to start one. :D

Mine are tucked away in the understairs cupboard until after Christmas. Too much going on right now to do anything with them.

I'm the same as Itsy. There's just too much going on to put aside enough time for storing. The buckets from the bakery are ready too.

Got the chance to use our sporks though as all the cutlery has gone into hiding!

Well, same here - mylar bags ready, buckets ready, vacuum packer ready... but no time. But I've taken a some time off next week so that's frist thing I'm going to do.

I'm just awaiting the delivery of grains, beans, etc. but one question poped to my head - has anyone tried sealing a mylar bag with a vacuum sealer??? I know the question may appear stupid but when I checked youtube I found that people are having problems doing just that because mylar bags are smooth and the vacuum sealer can't draw the air out as opose to vacuum sealer bags which have grooves where the air can go through. I haven't tried it yet so can't say for sure but maybe anyone on here did?
I don't know if you know what I mean?

Have you links to the videos?

One way is to seal 90% of the top and then draw through the last bit with the suction tube and then seal the last 10% of the top, also whacking in a couple of oxygen absorbers before the final seal will help deal with anything left in there.
