hello from new prepper

Post by dunley67 »

hi
just started getting into prepping, spent all christmas hols reading all sorts of stuff on the pc,now starting to formulate storage plans etc, must say though nearly from scratch there's a lot to do,so a bit at a time to stop going into overload and eventual capitulation. this is going to have to be solo at the mo because all my lot will think im mad, usual story i guess.live in the countryside, small village.my main concern is short term sustainment ok but how long have i got to get it together for any major catastrophes,no answer to that one so just maintain a steady build up i suppose.

anyway happy to be here

hi an welcome.

il share my outlook an maybe it will help relax you abit. ;)

theres always going to be someone somewhere thats been doing it longer and will have a huge stash of goods.

theres always going to be someone thats got the perfect location for prepping/no dependants etc that will be better prepared,

the thing is not to get overwhelmed by talk of sinking ibcs into ground for water or freezers for caches.
if you cannot do it for yourself.

best thing is to make do with what you have, and gradually build your supplies an knowledge up little an often.

my missus thinks im daft but admits that when the shops empty every snowfall its nice knowing you have stuff in,
and some stuff can double for camping alfresco dining or romatic evenings which lesses the hassle of having it around or spending the extra tenner each shopping trip etc.

Hey! Welcome aboard. Dont get overwhelmed by the mad desire that you need to have everything now....slow and steady is the way most people start - and anything you do is better then nothing :) Small targets - 1 weeks stores, then 1 month, then 2 months and onwards, for me food is the most important, followed by fuel, followed by tools. Everyone has their own system and methods - you will be the same. The forum is here to help, to be a place to talk to people who wont think you are crazy for having 32 tins of baked beans in your wardrobe and you still think its not enough, and a place to share any info you find in your day to day travels that may be useful to us lot in here :D

Don't worry, I don't think that anyone is an "old" prepper, we are all new as we are all learning from each other.
Do it slowly, bit by bit.
No rush.
