Also, I'd like a good book on harvesting and preserving seed to use in following years. Any suggestions welcome.

Wanted - suggestions for a good book about preserving
Can anyone suggest a good book or two on preserving garden produce. I'd like to make and preserve things like pasta sauces, pickled veg, "canned" fruit etc.

HMSO does a good one-Institute of Food Research 'Home Preservation Of Fruit And Vegetables'. I believe it updated every so often.

We just had a delivery from Amazon!
We got "The Preserving Book" by DK, Preserving Food without Freezing or Canning", (1933392592), and "How to Store your Garden Produce: the Key to Self-sufficiency", (190032217x). That should keep us going for a bit. I'll check out the HMSO one as well.
