Just read a lot of the web articles associated with this. Think I may have get that book too. Anything that encourages us to live a bit more sustainably and inspires you to be a little more self sufficient has to be a good thing. After reading this and reading The Gnoles post "I found this tonight" on what is means to be a prepper, I certainly feel quite positive and boyed up. :)
"Today is the tomorrow that you worrried about yesterday" - unknown
"Smoke me a kipper, I'll be back for breakfast" - Red Dwarf

itsybitsy wrote:I bought the Kindle version of this yesterday and have already read about a third of it. I'm completely hooked! So much so that I am going to get the h/c edition too. If anyone hasn't read it I highly recommend it. Mark Boyle, former businessman and founder of the Freeconomy Community, decides to see if he can live a year without money, as a social experiment. He gives up his home, his job, his entire way of life - and lives off grid in a caravan that he got off freecycle! It's a great read so far - not too heavy, but insightful, interesting, educational (well, for me anyway) and actually very funny!

True story - he did it in 2009.

I read it couple of years ago. My Brother had it after me. He reckons he could have written it after bankruptcy!!!
It is a VERY good read and could be a lesson to us all
In three words I can sum up everything I have learned about life: It goes on.

Robert Frost.

Covid 19: After that level of weirdness ,any situation is certainly possible.

Amazon has a large selection of free books for the Kindle including new titles.

If you're the founder of the "Freeconomy Community" one might imagine you believe in freeconomics.
A Freeconomy is a moneyless society where there are no financial transactions. This is not bartering and there's no debt
Selling your book about might be considered a double standard at the very least.

Ah, I see. Well, I don't care about that really. I bought it. I enjoyed it. That's good enough for me.

And if it encourages another person to live by some of the principles then it's worth every penny.

So long as it doesn't encourage too much freeganism, as they are pretty much leeches living off other peoples input without putting too much in themselves.
