What Preps are you doing this week

Planted 2 local heritage apple trees - Kidds Orange Red and Holstein. No fruit this year but you have to plan ahead!
Woodchipped the paths between our planting beds so it looks tidy.
Bought some extra seeds.
Just done a big shop at Lidl so prepping shelves looking good.

The sun shining always get me working harder, especially outside. If its dull and dreary I just drink tea and eat cookies!

He does "Breath of the Dragon" kits, made using natural flint and pieces of old metal working files (car boot ones tend to be old and rusty, =very good for this), some char-cloth and other bits and pieces.

I know the majority will think but...

Swapped all my old respirator canisters for new, unsealed foil ones. It never hurts to ensure stocks are in date.
I also added new water containers, new clothing, candles, batteries and managed to dig an old ammo container out from the local surplus store.
Does anyone know if these combat EMP or do I need extra protection?

If it's metal, complete and seals properly it'll make a good EMP protector. I assume they are all metal and not been replaced by plastic ones nowadays.

iv been putting time in on the allotment . iv got loads of new seedlings growing ..working on getting a wood/coal fire for green house heating and a 12v solar/power surpuly ,am going to have a go at making wine this year..found a new house with better bugging in...and better run to the hills route.

Didn't realise we were expecting a Nuke missile to be launched and detonated high over the UK http://www.fas.org/nuke/intro/nuke/emp.htm Has a nuclear country declared war on us? And before ANYONE starts off on one there is such a small chance of such an incident that IMO (In My Opinion) it isn't worth it to build tuppence ha'penny faraday cage, as Ian put in a previous post on the subject,

I can never understand why, when I was designing bunkers for a living, EMP cabinets were in the thousands of pounds to buy from the accredited suppliers, whereas it is thought that the average DIYer can knock one up out of a microwave and tinfoil and it will work.

I consider that it is better to put that money and time into other things and not worry about it, not even the much touted Faraday cage.

Each to their own though, after all I have a crossbow, a lot of people wouldn't even consider having one of those.
