Just bought a 10 litre paddycan from B&Q. Must say I was prompted by the news of the Tanker Drivers vote for action, glad I've got plenty food in though as I don't think the 10 litres of diesel are going to get me that far.

I need to hunt down a 45gal drum for use as a new storage container for my red diesel (Generator fuel) currently stored in my jerry cans, then I can get the boss's permission to fill the cans when I fill up the van again. Sadly no other options for getting to work :(

Planted a plum tree.
Picked up some greenhouse shelves and loads more pots from freecycle.
Treated myself to a cast iron griddle; suitable for electric, gas and BBQ. As I'm on Easter hols next week I can see lots of drop scones, pancakes etc being cooked.

AFTER I sweep the chimney today- because we had a soot-fall all over the one week -old carpet yesterday :o I am going to continue building my new chicken coop. I now have more time to keep more poultry.

But first it's that damned chimney...

Reclaiming and checking gear in the car

Post by theboss2010 »

After a week of upheaval, which is still ongoing, an idiot went through a red light and smashed up my car. The car was set up like a large Bug Out Bag, with enough food, water, camping gear, first aid kits etc to last for 72hrs plus for four people. If the car broke down some where, I'd be ok!

As some idiot smashed into the car and the car was taken away, it had taken me a total of 4 days to reclaim all of my gear. It was surprising how much gear I had stowed away.

Once I got all my gear back, I spent a whole day checking everything out for damage etc! Considering how much damage the car was in, my gear was unscathed.

Its surprising how much time and energy it takes to deal with this, especially the mental side of things, it physically drains you. Its what would of happened if the idiot was going faster or if the kids where in the car, regards to the car and gear, thats all material it can be replaced!

OH dug another growing bed yesterday. Not square but triangle to fit the space but now more room for growing which is good.

Jansman I hope the carpet cleaned up  Our sweep comes monday and I'm panicking about our new carpet already! I'm upping the food stash a wee bit just in case the petrol strike causes hassle. Still too early to start the garden but I got all the seeds sorted and might start some on window sills. Hens back on full time laying and we have too many eggs again
