I'm actually a bit concerned that this household's developed a bit of a gender split with me looking after the food / domestic supply preps and my testosterone fuelled OH covering security / transport and bug out arrangements.....

I care not a jot in principle but we're not actually too gender specific about other roles and it's frankly no use to be so in a crisis! Therefore I'm simply confused as to why this should be so and trying to work out how to approach the issue with him....

Have a mini drill whereby you are at home and he has £30 and near a store. He has to grab those last minute items and you have to secure your house/ pack BOB into vehicle.

Upon completion discuss what went right/wrong and how you both coped.
Two is one and one is none, but three is even better.

Only one gender and three species in the house so no real problems there, Dad (me) has always cooked and prepped food, etc. anyway for some strange reason  Son does own washing, ironing, washes up, keeps room tidy, etc., so all good there, Dad does most of shopping/housework, Son looks after (his) animals (Ferret and newly aquired Boxer pup) and cleans up any mess, suits Dad just fine  one small happy family. :D

As far as security goes, Dad & Son have both thrown enough would-be squatters out of the empty property above, so that's shared, Ferret would make a hell of a suprise launched in the face of a would be burglar and the Boxer, well he could prolly lick someone to death but not much else sadly bless him, but if they went down gawd help em, he'd bounce and drool all over em.

I once watched an episode of 'beat the burglar' on BBC1 where the home owner said "as soon as he goes in the lounge my 'staffy' will make mince meat of him."
The burglar stole the dog - ha ha, genius

I've started my cash stash again. Basically we bought a new car last week and will keep it a year then get another new one but want to really spoil ourselves next year so...
I'm putting away a bit of cash as and when I can. For the next twelve months it will be real money I can use 'just in case' cash machines go down. But, in twelve months it will hopefully be enough to treat myself. Then, start again

My OH has been earning some of that immoral cash in hand recently. That goes into a well hidden tin and its looking very healthy. It is a good feeling to have that cash handy. Long may it continue. :)

I'm hoping last months overtime at work is going to be enough to give me an excuse to add to my gold stash, just need to wait for my payslip on Thursday, it will be tight though so may have to wait a month.
