Yep that was the price I saw as well....and what I considered spending on my first foray into the world of slingshots (I kept getting corrected when I spoke about getting a catapult to my 12 year old daughter  ......jeez kids these day think they know it all) :

I'm getting a Barnett pro Diablo, it has counter weights that screw into it for better balance 8-)

The catapult I have been practicing with today was made from wood, string, very cheap resistance bands and an old leather pouch from another bandset. The wood was reclaimed.
Total cost? Very low.
Commercial catapults have lovely predatory names and pretty colours, but that doesn't necessarily make them more accurate. Each frame seems to shoot very differently and one has to get used to the frame so that one can shoot and shoot it well. Catapults are an industry and the names and designs make up part of the marketing.
My black widow is useful as its my only tube shooter, the cheap Chinese one I have is good because its my only looped band shooter and my home made wooden one is great cos its my only flat band shooter.
I don't need any more, just need to learn how to shoot with what I have got.
That wont stop me lusting after something shiny and stylish, but its not very preparedness minded to buy shit cos it looks good.

Well Nick, I went and bought the tenner Black Widow of ov Ebay. It feels like it could take a bloke's head clean off. It folds up nicely to fit into a BOB or wherever.
Must admit after using both the Diablo and now the Black Widow, the latter has to be best bang for buck. Really cannot go wrong for a ten spot, although I still have a soft spot for the Diablo.
Ebay also has a seller flogging lead ammo which I had to try. Very nice, the weight feels perfect for me compared to the steel ball bearings. Probs best to use the ball bearing for practice so that they can be reclaimed.
Also checked out a lead ammo mold. A bit pricey at 70 quid but would pay for itself after prolonged use.

i feel 13 again :)
