Para-cord

Post by stickman45 »

Probably a silly question BUT -

1) What is Para-Cord?

2) WHY does everyone in the prep\survival world go on about it so?

Thanks

Have a read here

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Parachute_cord

Many of our members have them in bracelet form so they always have it on their person. I'm sure there are some YouTube vids out there to show you how to make them and I'm sure somebody with more knowledge than me will be along shortly to point you in the right direction.

Or look here

And here

Hope that helps. :D

Can someone tell me the difference between para cord and utility rope as i bought some utilty rope from the pound shop thats seems adequate. Para cord seems more exspensive is there a valid reason for this or is it a brand issue?

Paracord has 5 or 7 inner stands which can all be used individually for snares, fishing, sewing, etc.

The stuff from the pound shop doesn't, but I think it is still quite strong. I wouldn't want to hang myself to test it's strength or lack of it.

Be lucky (and well hung)
