Interesting attitude, don’t understand the term ‘the great unwashed’,

However if one is stupid enough to allow one s self to be seen (post fall die off period) by strangers then not only will that person probably get themselves killed (and maybe their family) but they deserve too. It’s called natural selection!

As too the unwashed, ‘my’ interpretation of that would include several groups of highly able people that you and others would do well to learn from as they will survive long after the average prepped suburbanite.

Example, spring 2011 I was down at a rather exclusive ‘yachty’ club (invited) as some bodies rather expensive 32’ yacht had broken its mooring during a spring tide and large storm, it had ended up 50m inshore on a soft bog with recovery estimates around ten grand. Anyway several days later yacht was in water again, with a very happy owner, I had separated him from a wedge of money but far less than he had been quoted by other people.

During the recovery I met an old man (72) who the ‘yachties’ called the tramp. Considering his lifestyle he was extremely well kempt. He pretty much slept on site, on a pallet and under a tarp with his belonging s. Catching a bus too town most days or combing the beach. He intrigued me as by all accounts he had spent the whole of the winter living like that, now we reached temps of -18 C and for nearly 6 weeks it the average temp was around O C.

I got to know him, much to the umm side ways glance s of some of the ‘yachties’ (mainly the committee members ) but he was tolerated by them, as he was seen as an unofficial night watchman, well that s what the people who had compassion said and therefore insisted he should be left alone.

What a man, he had his own house, had served and fought in the military but his life had fallen apart when his wife died. Of course he was just a tramp. Unless of course you did not judge him and took the time too get to know him.

Obviously, as I said before this is very much about the situation one finds one s self in.

And believe me after several weeks in the same cloths unable to wash, then a long hot bath, clean cloths, a tot of rum and crisp sheets. Well it just does not get any better.

However "Jansman" still curious as to your meaning of "savage" as to be fair it did seem a tad judgemental !!

Personally I like things clear and straight with no ambiguity, and well !! would like to know are you using that a an adjective or noun, big difference!!

Personally I'd rather be savage, any day of the week over being a bigot or ignorant!

A very important thing to do, if you judge what is on show you can miss out on so much useful stuff that is well below the surface, if you lack patience and tolerence of another person because of what impression they might give you can miss so much of their rich tapestry because you didn't get to know them well.

Unfortunately it also works the other way around, you can do your best to get to know someone, be kind and understanding, but then you wish you hadn't, all others do get full respect, and will be treated as such, as they will have earned your trust and respect and will hopefully give the same in return and become good friends for many years to come, even old friends fall by the wayside sometimes, but the new friends fill the voids.

But that's a whole other subject to clothes pegs.

Probably the easiest is to have a couple of packs of all weather ones, some are good for places with a lot of strong winds, Northern Western England can be rough at any time of the year. a couple of hanks of Sash cord for a line is easy to store.

So yes if I see it, sense it or smell it I will confront it and where possible on a intellectual level. Which is why I have "played nice" and backed up everything with cases in point. If every person in this country felt a duty to do so it would be a far better place and the chances of everything turning to custard far less.

So in the words of Jasmine Guy I say
"I don't much care who is gay or straight or married or not. I mostly notice if they are brave enough to confront bigotry."
