Definitely borage, we grow it deliberately and it self seeds with no problem. Birds will bring it in to start with or perhaps wind blown as the seeds are fairly fine. Congratulations.

Our main use is for decoration, especially in a Pimms cup.

So I really need to get rid of it if it's not going to feed me in any way, shape or form!

Hobo, I've only got three plants, the biggest of which I pulled out of the ground this morning thinking it was a weed. I've tried to repot it but it's not looking promising...

Got a stash of seeds inc. borage I can bring to Yorks RV. Have some growing at the allotment - one of the few successes this year!

Should probably try and remember to label stuff!
Starflower ;)
Yep Borage. No other name to my knowledge. It's a tradition to add the flowers to your Pims. Not very good information really. (Though it was used as a quite powerful stimulant by those pothead Elizabethethans).

If I leave the other two plants in the container, can I plant something else along side them? If so, what would you recommend? Will this regrow next year if I just let it die down naturally?

Borage is a lovely, useful herb. Use the young leaves like lettuce or cooked like spinach. The flowers can be frozen in ice cube trays and look good when dropped into drinks. Or you could just drop the flowers into salads. You can add the stems to salads or soups. The Spanish par boil the stems for 2 mins and then fry them in batter.
It's supposed to be an anti inflammatory herb and is very rich in antioxidants. I think it only fell out of favour because it can take over a bit. I always have to stake mine as well because it gets heavy and goes flopping over.
